The reason for this is that the occasions for these two discourses are different in time. The third difference lies in the individuals involved: The first discourse on the Tathāgatagarbha, according to the sutras, was initiated by the Tathāgata. The second discourse by Ānanda was given after Ānanda made a request. Even believing in this sutra and the Buddha-bhūmi, etc., does not require initiation, because even if it is said that believing is initiating in meaning, there is no contradiction. In this, believing also contains three meanings: distinguishing between the quantity of things, revealing the intention of what is said about things, and explaining by distinguishing after things. Distinguishing between the quantity of things is also explained in three ways: First, the teacher Yaṁdagdenpa, in his notes on the Prajñāpāramitā Sutra, divided things into seven categories. Among them, "Thus" refers to the Dharma that is heard, that is, being completely convinced of the letters and meaning of a single sutra. "I" refers to the person who is able to ascertain the meaning, such as Ānanda. "Heard" refers to what is heard directly. "At one time" refers to the fact that the Dharma that is heard is very special in terms of time and characteristics. "Bhagavan" refers to the teacher who speaks. "At the place of the radiant jewel" etc. indicates the place of speaking. "With a great assembly of countless Śrāvakas" etc. indicates that it was not heard alone. In short, these seven things are for four necessities: First, "Thus" is to fully show the Dharma that is heard. The following items "Heard" are to distinguish the person who is able to hear. The next two items are to prove the Dharma that is heard. The last two items are to prove the person who hears. As the teacher Yaṁdagdenpa said in his notes on the seven things. Secondly, if combined with the Prajñāpāramitā written by the teacher Nāgārjuna, then it comes from that.

Regarding the introduction, it is explained by dividing it into six aspects: faith, hearing, time, master, place, and the perfection of the retinue. In the treatise called "Tara" composed by Master Vasubandhu, it is also said that if six meanings arise, then, in the Indian language, it is called "Sandhinirmocana (梵文:saṃdhinirmocana)", where the word "Sandhi (梵文:saṃdhi)" has three meanings: First, the local people of India also call the connection of two things "Sandhi (梵文:saṃdhi)." Second, the connection of bone joints is also called "Sandhi (梵文:saṃdhi)." Third, the profound path is also called "Sandhi (梵文:saṃdhi)." Therefore, the translators each translated based on one of these meanings. The name of this sutra is actually "Profound Unraveling Sutra." In addition, this sutra is named from the template, so it is also called "knot," and also called "connection." Just like the knot of meaning, the connection between things, like the joints of bones are connected to each other. The so-called "Nirmocana (梵文:nirmocana)" refers to explanation, which is a synonym for "detailed explanation." Therefore, the master made notes on the "Samdhinirmocana Sutra" with the true truth, in which Samdhinirmocana is a detailed explanation. A knot is firm and a bond, where firm is stable, and a bond is a shackle. Just like the joints of trees and human bones, there are both firm and stable things, and the shackles of bonds. Similarly, the profound meaning explained in this sutra is also very difficult to understand and liberate, so it is not something that ordinary people and novice Bodhisattvas can understand and know, so this meaning is called firm and bond. Because this sutra can liberate, it is called Samdhinirmocana. In addition, the very subtle and difficult-to-understand meanings that appear in all Mahayana treatises are collected in this sutra, and in order to clearly explain in detail, this sutra is called Samdhinirmocana, just like it appears in the extensive explanation. Among them, the so-called connection liberation refers to the various meanings of connection.
