It is for the sake of the teaching. The non-Buddhist Samkhyas are also shown by the Tathagata to be bodhisattvas liberated. Among the two great beings, those who are proficient in the inner Dharma, whose wisdom and faculties are very sharp, let alone not making their own scriptures and commentaries, therefore, it should be known that their saying so is also for the sake of widely propagating the Dharma. This sutra, from the perspective of treatises that follow different diseases, is a treatise that establishes the two truths, the three natures, shamatha and vipassana, etc. From the perspective of treatises that are distinguished by different schools, it is a treatise that shows that three incomparable qualities should be spoken. From the perspective of treatises that are explained separately according to the time, it is a treatise that shows the definitive meaning. Among these, the third, showing the place and for what purpose it was spoken, is also divided into two types: showing the place of the teaching and showing for what purpose the teaching was spoken. Showing the place of the teaching is like this: Although there are many doors to the holy scriptures, in summary, they are the three pitakas, the two pitakas, and the twelve branches of scripture. Among them, the so-called three pitakas, the first is the sutra pitaka, which is derived from the Sanskrit word (梵文天城体:सूत्र,梵文罗马拟音:sūtra,汉语字面意思:thread) and is called the corresponding sutra section, which is in accordance with the corresponding reason and the aspirations of sentient beings. The so-called "sutra" is to string together and collect, because it strings together the meanings and collects sentient beings, so it is called the sutra section because it has these two meanings. The second is the vinaya pitaka, which can subdue the seven branches of non-virtuous actions of body and speech, or subdue the three types of actions and return from non-virtue, so it is called vinaya. The third is the Abhidharma pitaka, because it can directly see the object and directly see the fruit, so it is also called the mother pitaka, because it can generate the root of wisdom. In this way, all three of them collect and hide the meaning that should be fully understood, so they are called pitakas. Among them, the so-called two pitakas, like this, because the three pitakas themselves have the distinction between the lower and upper vehicles.

Therefore, it is divided into two pitakas: the Śrāvakapiṭaka and the Bodhisattvapiṭaka. The characteristics of these two types of pitakas will be explained in detail later in this very sutra. The so-called twelve branches of scripture are: Sutra, Geya, Vyākaraṇa, Gāthā, Udāna, Nidāna, Avadāna, Itivṛttaka, Jātaka, Vaipulya, Adbhūta-dharma, and Upadeśa. Their characteristics will also be explained in detail later in this very sutra. Similarly, the scriptures of the Tathāgata Śākyamuni himself, due to the different interpretations of the Indian teachers, the exposition of some dharmas is one way, for example, they say "one teaching," such as Lāśiva and others. The exposition of some dharmas is two ways, for example, they say "incomplete" and "complete," such as Thambu Chim. The exposition of some dharmas is three ways, for example, how the Tripiṭaka master Xuanzang, relying on the Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra and others, explained the Four Noble Truths, the absence of characteristics, and the definitive meaning, as mentioned above. The exposition of some dharmas is four ways, the first is the exposition of the Four Noble Truths, such as the Vinaya and others. The second is the exposition of the absence of characteristics, such as the Prajñāpāramitā sutras. The third is the exposition of the characteristics of dharmas, such as the Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra. The fourth is the exposition of the Yogācāra school, such as the Avataṃsaka Sūtra. The teacher Yaṅdag Denpa said this: The exposition of some dharmas is five ways, the first is the Four Truths. The second is the absence of characteristics. The third is the Yogācāra, the meaning is as explained before. The fourth is the Great Vehicle of extreme bliss, as the fruit of extreme bliss Nirvana is explained in the Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra.
