Will it also exist? It is merely nominally established in conventional terms, and even if there is nothing to be said, if it is not the same, even if it exists, it exists together, why is that? The Sutra Pitaka says that one exists and one does not exist. Therefore, your statement does not agree with the meaning of the Sutra Pitaka. Therefore, one should believe that the self-nature of the completely imputed is non-existent, because it is for the sake of establishing the falsehood of worldly people. The self-nature of the other-powered arises from causes and conditions, and is not made by non-true consciousness, so one should believe that it exists, and refute it in this way. The teacher བྷ་, in order to establish that the self-nature of the other-powered does not exist, quotes the source from the Sutra Pitaka: There is no dharma that arises slightly, and there is no dharma that ceases slightly. If one examines all dharmas well with pure view, it is neither existent nor non-existent. That's what it says. This explanation by the teacher Dharmapala cannot establish that the self-nature of the other-powered is not existent. Why is that? Because the intention of this verse is to speak of the difference of the self-nature of the completely imputed, and the things that are said are the emptiness of self-nature, non-arising and non-ceasing. With the pure view that is free from discrimination, one should examine the world well. Because it arises from causes and conditions, one sees that it is neither existent nor non-existent. Therefore, this cannot establish that the self-nature of the other-powered is non-existent.

Although he would cause it to perish, it is not said that everything does not exist. How is it known that there is such a thought? Because it is clearly stated in other sutras. For example, the Blessed One said this: I, considering the nature of similarity, said that all dharmas are without self-nature. If someone clings to the literal meaning and says that defiled and purified dharmas do not exist in their own nature, then this wrong understanding of emptiness is called a wrong view. The similar nature mentioned here refers to the similar nature of what can be said and what is said, which is completely conceived by worldly people. Defiled and purified dharmas are of the nature of other-dependence, therefore it is known that the noble ones have such a thought. Furthermore, in the Holy Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, the Blessed One himself clearly distinguished the meaning of existence and non-existence: the self-nature of the completely imputed is said to be completely non-existent, and the dharmas produced by causes and conditions are said to exist. In addition, other sutras also say: not born from the self-nature of the completely imputed, the dharmas included in the self-nature of other-dependence are born from causes and conditions. Furthermore, many sutras say that dharmas have no self-nature, no birth and cessation, etc., but should be completely distinguished, and should not be clung to the literal meaning, thinking that this is the ultimate meaning. Even in conventional truth, do not mistakenly think that dharmas do not exist, thereby generating great wrong views. The teacher Bhāviveka also proved with reasoning and said: This statement is also unreasonable. Why? Because in the sutra of ultimate meaning, there is a distinction between other and other. The Blessed One himself said: In which sutra is emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, non-action, no birth, no cessation, and self-

Without sentience, without beings, without life, without a master, without a person, and opening the door to liberation, etc., whatever teaches these is called the Sutra of Definite Meaning. The teacher Dharmapala said: What I say is very consistent with reason, just as in other sutras, the Blessed One himself determined and taught: Considering the self-nature of the thoroughly conceptualized, I teach in other sutras that all dharmas are without self-nature, without birth, without cessation, peaceful from the beginning, and naturally in nirvana. Considering the self-nature of the dependent arising, it is taught that the minds of sentient beings arise, cease, enter into samsara, and so on. Furthermore, in other sutras, the Blessed One taught: Shariputra, form is empty of self-nature, and because it is empty of self-nature, it is without birth and without cessation. Because it is without birth and without cessation, it is without change. Feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness are also the same. This is considering the self-nature of the thoroughly conceptualized, so it is said to be empty of self-nature, without birth and without cessation, and so on. For the self-nature of dependent arising, because there is no self-nature of the thoroughly conceptualized, emptiness is spoken of, but it is not empty of self-nature and without birth and without cessation, and so on. The Tathagata said that among these and those three self-natures, the self-nature of the thoroughly conceptualized is emptiness. The self-nature of dependent arising and the self-nature of the perfectly established are both real. Therefore, for the scriptures that teach emptiness, because there is a hidden meaning, do not slander that the dharmas do not exist according to the literal meaning. It should be known that whoever clings to the meaning according to the literal meaning is slandering the Mahayana. Furthermore, in the sutra it is said, Subhuti, the form called form should be known as the self-nature of no self-nature, and so on for feeling, perception, formation, etc., even up to the extensive explanation.
