Thus it is said. The intention of the Sutra school is that the self-nature of other-powered nature is said to be the self-nature of no self-nature, because it is inseparable from the self-nature of imputed forms and so on, and because it is without self-nature by the self-nature of the dharma that is beyond words. The teacher Bhāviveka said, if he spoke in verses: If the self-nature of other-powered nature is not truly existent, then it would contradict what is said in the Sutra, in the Sutra it is said: All dharmas arise from conditions, conditions and dharmas are both non-existent, whoever knows this well, is called understanding dependent origination. If a dharma arises from a condition, that dharma is completely without self-nature. If a dharma is without self-nature, then the dharma does not arise from a condition. Thus it is said. The teacher Dharmapāla said: Thus, although it is said in the two Sutras that the dharma of dependent origination is without self-nature, there is no contradiction. Thus, there are two kinds of dharmas of dependent origination, namely, the imputed and the other-powered nature. Here, the intention is to show that the self-nature of the imputed is non-existent, but it is not to show the other-powered nature. If it is said that the other-powered nature has no self-nature from the beginning, then the two dharmas of purification and defilement would also be denied, which is called taking emptiness wrongly, and it would harm both oneself and others. The teacher Bhāviveka also said: Who can stop this unreal conceptualization? When the true view is obtained, it will be eliminated by itself. The teacher Dharmapāla said: If the mind and mental factors that arise from conditions are all empty of self-nature, just like the imputed, then how can sentient beings of the three realms be able to perform the cycle of death and birth, just like flowers in the sky? Therefore, the other-powered nature is not without its own self-nature. The initial intention of the author of the treatise must also be the same. If it is not so, why not

It is said that the bonds of apparent conceptualization can be completely removed by realizing emptiness. Who has seen a tortoise shell acting as a bond, or a rabbit's horn being truly realized and able to be completely eliminated? Therefore, it should be known that mind and mental phenomena exist, while objects that are easily grasped as existing separately from the mind do not exist. The detailed explanation is as it appears from that source. According to the teachings of the Tripitaka, the three wheels of Dharma also, after more than a hundred years had passed since the Buddha's Nirvana, the teachers of the twenty schools each made their own explanations of the first turning of the wheel of Dharma with their own intelligence. Then, two hundred years after the Buddha's Nirvana, the Bodhisattva Nagarjuna, relying on the Sutra of the Perfection of Wisdom, composed treatises, such as the commentary on the Perfection of Wisdom and the Madhyamaka. From these, by abandoning the nature of conceptualization, the principle of signlessness was well explained. Then, Aryadeva and others correctly accepted these treatises and transmitted and propagated them from one to another. Nine hundred years after the Buddha's Nirvana, the Bodhisattva Maitreya, relying on the Sutra Unraveling of Thought and others, composed treatises such as the Yogacarabhumi and the Differentiation of the Middle and the Extremes. The teachers Asanga and Vasubandhu correctly accepted these treatises and widely propagated them. At that time, the Buddha's Dharma was of one taste, and there was no dispute among those who spoke of emptiness and existence. Therefore, the teacher Near Light said: 'Before a thousand years (after the Buddha's Nirvana), the Buddha's Dharma was of one taste. Since then, due to the difference in memory and intelligence, those who speak of the dispute between emptiness and existence have become widespread in the world.' Here, the various explanations of the disputes among the Bodhisattvas are also because the words of the Tathagata are very profound, so these (disputes) in the manner of mutual debate, well explain the Buddha's Dharma.
