From "that is" onwards, starting and ending with non-self-nature, it explains all dharmas as unborn, unceasing, and so on. The first part has three aspects: briefly explaining by showing the door; from "son of the family" onwards, explaining in detail with questions and answers; from "son of the family" onwards, making a general conclusion after the explanation is finished. Briefly explaining by showing the door is also explained in two ways: starting from the three types of non-self-nature, explaining the intention of the sutras; naming the three types of non-self-nature according to number. This is the first. Thus, the Blessed One said that all dharmas are without self-nature, which means that I said that relying on the three types of non-self-nature, all dharmas are without self-nature. This is a concluding statement. Among them, all dharmas refer to the three self-natures, and the three non-self-natures are established based on the three self-natures. Therefore, it is said in the sutras that all dharmas are without self-nature. Therefore, in the Verses on the Establishment of Consciousness-Only, it says: Self-nature has three aspects, in the three non-self-natures, considering all dharmas, it is declared as without self-nature. Just like this, the non-self-nature of characteristics, the non-self-nature of arising, and the non-self-nature of ultimate truth, this is the second naming according to number, the non-self-nature of characteristics and so on have three aspects. "Son of the family, what is the non-self-nature of the characteristics of all dharmas?" and so on is the second part, explaining in detail with questions and answers. This also has two aspects: explaining truthfully according to the dharma, and explaining by repeating with examples. Explaining truthfully according to the dharma is also divided into three aspects because there are three types of non-self-nature, this is the first. This first is also explained in five ways: questioning, answering, examining, explaining in detail, and concluding, this is the first questioning. Just like this: the completely imputed of all dharmas

"What is self-nature?" is the second explanation of the correct answer. The so-called "self-nature of the completely imputed from the three self-natures" is its definition. Why is that? This is the third examination. For what reason is the characteristic of the completely imputed called non-self-nature? This is its definition. This is only established as a characteristic through names and symbols, but not established as a characteristic by its own characteristic, which is the fourth explanation, distinguishing and explaining as in the examination. The so-called "This is only established as a characteristic through names and symbols" is to show the meaning of the characteristic, that is, therefore, it is established as a characteristic by relying on terminology. The so-called "It is not established as a characteristic by its own characteristic" is to show the meaning of non-self-nature. In short, the completely imputed exists following the mind, but because it does not exist in the ultimate sense, it is said to be non-self-nature. Therefore, the characteristic of the completely imputed is called non-self-nature. Therefore, in the explanation of the treatise, it is said: "Because the self-nature of the completely imputed does not have its own characteristic, it is called non-self-nature." Furthermore, in the treatise "Explanation of the Three Non-Self-Natures," it is said: "Because the characteristic is not truly existent as it appears, the self-nature of complete imputation is the self-nature of non-characteristic." In the treatise "Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra" it is also said: "What is the non-self-nature of characteristics? It is the self-nature that arises from the terminology of all dharmas." Therefore, the so-called "called non-self-nature of characteristics" is the fifth conclusion, just a conjunction. The so-called "What is the non-self-nature of the arising of all dharmas?" and so on, is the second to show the non-self-nature of arising. This should also be understood in five ways as before, this is the first question. The so-called "For example, the dependent nature of all dharmas" is the second explanation of the correct answer, that is, the truth of the dependent nature among the three self-natures.

English

It is the word "why". Why is that? "Why" is the third examination, meaning: for what reason is the other-dependent nature called the nature of no-self-nature? "This exists by the power of others, but not by its own power" is the fourth explanation by distinguishing. This exists by the power of other conditions, this sentence shows the meaning of birth, that is, because it exists by the power of other conditions, it is called birth. And "not existing by its own power" shows the selflessness. That is to say, it is said to be born because it depends on the causes and conditions of other dharmas, but not born from Ishvara etc., so it is called unborn. Therefore, in the commentary, it is said: "The other-dependent nature is born from the power of conditions, but not born from its own power, so it is called unborn." In addition, in the Treatise on the Three Natures of Selflessness, it is said: "The other-dependent nature is born from the power of conditions, but not born from its own power, so the other-dependent is the nature of unborn." In the Yogacarabhumi-sastra, it is said: "What is the nature of no-birth?" Therefore, calling the nature of no-birth is the fifth conclusion, it is only a particle. "What is the ultimate nature of dharma?" etc., is the third to show the ultimate nature. This is also divided into two: one is to show the ultimate nature starting from the other-dependent, and the other is from "in addition" onwards, to show the ultimate selflessness starting from the perfectly established. The first is also divided into five types to show, which should be understood as before, this is the first question. For example, because the birth of all dharmas is selfless, it is called selfless, and the dharma of dependent origination is also called ultimate selfless.
