For the grounds, one should be compassionate with the absence of loss. This is called the second verse, which is a general indication after it is said. Before that, the merit of being good at knowing the three natures was shown by the explanation that corresponds to the single sentence. Now, this verse strongly shows the fault of not understanding the explanation of no-characteristic with the incompatible explanation. Why are these called compatible and incompatible understandings? In the true sense, both single sentences and verses have compatible and incompatible explanations, but in order to establish the general indication, each aspect is stated and they indicate each other. From the Sutra Unraveling the Profound Thought, it is said that the explanation that corresponds to the verses and single sentences is shown because the thoughts of the translators are different. Here, because there are two verses, they are divided into two types: the first verse truly shows the fault of not understanding no-characteristic. The latter verse strongly shows the fault of not contemplating the faults of all conditioned things. The first is also divided into two types: the first half of the verse shows the fault of not abandoning all defilements after mentioning not understanding. The latter half of the verse, starting from not abandoning all defilements, strongly shows the fault of not manifesting non-accomplishment. Among them, the so-called "loss" means to be lost. In this way, because of not abandoning all defilements, the Dharma of the pure nature of the Tathagatagarbha, which is extremely rich, will be lost and deteriorated. The so-called loss and deterioration means not manifesting. The explanation of the latter verse is also divided into two types: the first two sentences show the fault of carelessness. The latter two sentences show the fault of laziness. Among them, the so-called "not contemplating the faults of conditioned things" and so on, in this way, because of ignorance, one does not contemplate the faults of conditioned things, so, from this, carelessness arises.

It will cause harm to sentient beings. Laziness causes the Dharma that abides to waver, etc., which points out the faults of laziness. Like this, whoever is lazy is the cause of faults and the obscuration of qualities. The Dharma that abides refers to Nirvana, which is permanent and indestructible, so it is called abiding. The Dharma that wavers refers to the Dharma of Samsara, which arises earlier and ceases later, and revolves in the three realms, so it is called the Dharma that wavers. Alternatively, the Dharma that abides refers to Samadhi. The Dharma that wavers refers to distraction. Because of non-existence and decay, one should be compassionate. This means that because of laziness, one considers all Dharmas to be non-existent, but clings to the wavering Dharma as real. Because of non-existence and existence, it becomes a fault. Because of decay, it becomes an object of great compassion. The extensive explanation of decay should be understood as it appears in the Treatise on the Stages of Yoga Practice. In the Sutra Unraveling the Profound Meaning, it says that by knowing the true Dharma as it is, one can abandon the characteristics of all afflicted Dharmas. After abandoning the characteristics of all afflictions, one will attain the pure Dharma. Not contemplating the faults of conditioned phenomena, one will overcome laziness and carelessness. All Dharmas are always unmoving, devoid of characteristics, and called Nirvana. This is what the Sutra says. In the Sutra Unraveling the Profound Meaning, it says, the fifth chapter, the Chapter on the Absence of Own-Being. The twenty-fourth volume. There are two explanations of this chapter: explaining the name of the chapter itself and explaining the meaning of the Sutra's words. Among them, in the Chapter on the Absence of Own-Being, there are three types of absence of own-being in brief: the absence of own-being of characteristics, the absence of own-being of arising, and the absence of own-being of ultimate meaning. Among them, saying the absence of own-being is to fully show the three absences of own-being, so it is said the absence of own-being. Among them, the nature is called
