It is. On the nature of other-dependent nature, because there is no attachment to the nature of the completely imputed nature, as a cause, one can thoroughly understand the nature of the perfectly established nature, which is called the third detailed explanation of the perfectly established nature. Like this, because the other-dependent nature is distinguished by the nature of non-attachment, the perfectly established nature arises, so it is called non-attachment. Therefore, it is said in the Yogacarabhumi Sutra that whatever is based on the nature of the completely imputed should be known to be permanently unestablished in the nature of the other-dependent. Or, non-attachment is the noble path, called non-attachment. That is to say, because there is no attachment to the path itself, one will obtain the nature of the perfectly established. Therefore, in the Yogacarabhumi Sutra, the Blessed One said that one should understand the non-attachment to the nature of the completely imputed from other sutras. This nature is explained based on obtaining complete purity, but not based on nature. Here, "other sutras" refers to this sutra itself. "Relying on obtaining complete purity" refers to relying on obtaining the noble path of inner Suchness, thereby thoroughly elucidating the meaning of manifestation. Or, relying on the power of the noble path, abandoning all afflictions, obtaining the completely pure Suchness, that is, relying on the path of attainment, thereby thoroughly elucidating the meaning of manifestation. "Not explained based on nature" means that it is not explaining the perfectly established nature based on abandoning the imputed nature. If combined with the previous explanation, "sutra" refers to the source quoted from other sutras. Some say that the so-called non-attachment is called non-attachment because there is no attachment to the other-dependent and the completely imputed to be attached to. In the Treatise on Buddha-Nature, if asked: Why does the nature of the perfectly established become established through the cause? The answer is: The completely imputed and the other-

The statement that "it is completely separated because of extreme non-attachment to the self-existent" is a mistake by the translators. Because establishing other-dependence contradicts the treatises and commentaries such as the *Yogācārabhūmi* that claim self-existence. Son of lineage, if Bodhisattvas truly know the nature of other-dependence in the dharmas, which is the nature of complete imputation, then they will truly know all dharmas that are without nature. What follows is the explanation that by means of knowing the essence, one will comprehend the three natures. Because the three natures are dissimilar, they are divided into three from that. This is because, first, one comprehends the completely imputed, so it is said that one will comprehend the naturelessness. Here, as explained above, because it is not related to characteristics, it is made by conditions. Just as it is, complete imputation is established only as name and reason, but in reality, there is no self-essence. Therefore, knowing that all imputations are natureless dharmas, just as they are, is the meaning of this statement. If Bodhisattvas truly know the nature of other-dependence. They will truly know all dharmas of the nature of complete affliction, this is the second, because knowing other-dependence, it is also shown to know the nature of complete affliction. Like this, knowing that those that arise relying on causes are other-dependent, therefore one will completely know that all complete afflictions are other-dependent. Among them, the former is the general imputation, the latter is the differentiated and imputed, so both the former and latter natures should be known in the same way. Furthermore, the former starts from one's own essence and distinguishes the imputation of other-dependence. The latter starts from the particular and distinguishes the imputation of other-dependence. Furthermore, the former starts from how much exists, the latter starts from how it exists. If Bodhisattvas

If one thoroughly understands the nature of the perfectly established as it is, then one will thoroughly understand all dharmas as they are with the nature of purity. This means that, thirdly, with the wisdom of the perfectly established, one will thoroughly understand the nature of purity. In this way, because there is no attachment to the imputed, one will also thoroughly understand the perfectly established dharma of purity. Son of lineage, if the bodhisattvas thoroughly understand the dharma of no-nature in the nature of other-powered as it is, then they will completely abandon the dharma of the nature of defilement. From this point on, it is said that, thirdly, by the power of wisdom, abandoning defilement, one will manifest purity. This also has two aspects: one is that by understanding no-nature, one will abandon the dharma of defilement; and the other is that because one has abandoned defilement, one will attain purity. This is the first, and there are also three explanations for the dharma of no-nature. Some say that the nature of the imputed is only said to exist in the mind, but it does not actually exist, because it does not exist in all natures, so it is called no-nature. Therefore, the Madhyāntavibhāga states: "The imputed nature is empty of inherent existence, therefore it is called no-nature." If we combine this explanation, because we have understood the dharma of no-nature, the nature of other-powered will not give rise to the dharma of the nature of defilement, so it is said that we can completely abandon the dharma of the nature of defilement. If there is no imputed, the dharma of the nature of defilement will not arise. Therefore, the Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra says, what is the function of the nature of the imputed? The answer is: there are five functions, namely, generating the nature of other-powered, naming it, generating attachment to persons, generating attachment to dharmas, and the bad habits generated by attachment to both.
