Because it arises from dependence. In the treatise "Establishment of Consciousness Only," the habit of expression is described as follows: It is the proximate seed of each individual conditioned dharma. Among conditioned dharmas, a truly existent dharma, because it has its own nature, can be said to arise from a seed. If it is not similarly possessed and lacks true self-nature, how can it be said to arise from a cause? In the true sense, imputed dharmas do not arise from seeds. Therefore, in the treatise "Establishment of Consciousness Only," imputed dharmas are like non-existence, because they are not causes and conditions. The meaning of imputed dharmas not being causes and conditions is that imputed dharmas are not to be produced either. However, examination is said to be the seed imputed after the truly existent. Because it arises from causes and conditions, in the treatise "Establishment of Consciousness Only," it is said that there are three types of habits: name, reason, and discrimination. The habit of self-grasping produces the hundredfold differences in the bodies of self and others. The habit of the limb of existence produces the karma of the hundred dharmas of good and bad destinies. The previously mentioned unconditioned and imputed dharmas should be understood as before. Among them, the differentiation of producing results starting from the eleven types of consciousness is as stated in the "Great Vehicle Scripture": Among them, the consciousness of the body, sentient beings, and the eater, the consciousness that is used by them, the consciousness that is used for them, the consciousness of time, the consciousness of number, the consciousness of place, and the consciousness of designation—all these arise from the seed of the habit of expression. The difference between the consciousness of self and others arises from the seed of the habit of self-grasping. The consciousness of good and bad destinies, death, and birth arises from the seed of the habit of the limb of existence.

It is said, "Thus." As extensively explained, just as stated therein. Among these, distinctions are made through four conditions: the habit of expression is the correct causal condition, while the other two habits are the dominant condition. Therefore, whether it is the Treatise on Consciousness-only or the consciousness that is established only in time, the seed that is formed from being completely imbued by the two expressions is what acts as the individual causal condition for conditioned phenomena. Furthermore, in the same text, it is said, "It should be known that the habits of clinging to self and the limb of existence act as the dominant condition for the various distinct fruits." As extensively explained, the detailed explanation is found in the commentary on the eighth fascicle of the Treatise on Consciousness-only. To explain the seed consciousness itself, it can be divided into two ways: first, starting from the aggregates of sentient beings, explaining the arising of the limbs of the body; and second, starting from "there," extensively explaining the distinctions of repeated births from the seed consciousness. This is the first way. Among these, the so-called six realms are as stated in the sutra below: "Sentient beings in hell, animals, hungry ghosts, gods, demigods, and humans." These six realms also differ according to their respective treatises, so the Sarvastivadins assert that there are only five realms. Therefore, in the Great Commentary on the Distinctions, it is said, "As stated in the sutra, the five realms are as follows: sentient beings in hell, animals, hungry ghosts, gods, and humans." Furthermore, in the same text, some other schools assert that demigods are the sixth realm. It should not be said in that way, because the sutra states that there are only five realms. As extensively explained, just as stated therein. If that is the case, which realm do the demigods belong to? It is said that there are two opinions in the Great Commentary on the Distinctions: some say that they are included in the realm of gods, but according to the correct meaning of the arguments, they belong to the realm of hungry ghosts.

It is said to be summarized. In the Sutra of Correct Reasoning and the Treatise of the Treasury, most of them also appear in accordance with what is taught in the Great Treatise on Distinctions. The Sutra masters also say that there are only five realms. Therefore, from the establishment of that treatise itself, there are six types of karma, namely the karma of the five realms and the uncertain karma. Here, if combined with the teachings of the Mahayana, some say that there are only five realms, as taught in the Sutra of the Holy Buddha Land and the Sutra Taught by the Renowned Vimalakirti, etc. If that is the case, which realm do the Asuras belong to? It is said in the commentary on the Sutra of the Holy Buddha Land that the types of Asuras are not definite, sometimes belonging to the gods, sometimes to the hungry ghosts, and sometimes to the animal realm. Therefore, it is not clearly stated here. Some say that there are six realms, as taught in this sutra itself and the Avatamsaka Sutra, etc. If combined with the Yogacarabhumi-sastra, then the previous statement is the correct meaning, therefore, from it, it should also be considered that the Asuras belong only to the realm of the gods. However, they have deceptive and deluding minds and are mostly cunning. Therefore, they are not like the gods, who are vessels of white Dharma. Therefore, sometimes other sutras teach different realms, but in reality, it is the realm of the gods. Furthermore, it is also said in that treatise that when the world is established in this way, the five realms of beings, namely hell beings, animals, hungry ghosts, gods, and humans, will appear. If combined with the commentary on the Holy Prajnaparamita, then establishing six realms is the correct meaning. Therefore, it is said in that treatise that the Mahayana sutra, the Lotus Sutra of the Good Law, says that there are six types of sentient beings, and if the meanings are examined, there are six realms. Furthermore, by distinguishing between good and non-good, there are also six realms, because good
