Furthermore, the third is change and destruction, like this: the previous two aspects both possess change and destruction, therefore it is called the nature of change and destruction. Because it possesses these three aspects, it is said to be not various aspects, not one aspect. Or it can also be called the distinct nature. Because there is no other characteristic that takes space as its cause, it is called without characteristics. Because there is no distinction of various kinds such as form, which can be indicated and has obstacles, it is called without discrimination, discrimination is the name for distinction. In the Sutra of Definitive Explanation of Words, it says that because there is no distinction, there is also no change and destruction, therefore it is called unchanging. Because it possesses these three natures, it is called the nature of one taste. Similarly, for all phenomena with distinct essence and distinct characteristics, in all ultimate truths, the principle of becoming the nature of one taste should also be understood in the same way. This is the third combining metaphor and meaning. Among them, essence and characteristics are distinct because their respective characteristics have become different. The Sandhinirmocana Sutra says that it has its own characteristics and becomes distinct, which means that all phenomena have two characteristics, namely their own essence and becoming distinct. The ultimate truth is called one taste because the own characteristics of all phenomena have not become distinct. Therefore, in the Holy Buddha Land Sutra, it says, for example, space is universally present in all kinds of forms, but it cannot be described, nor is it various, but one. Similarly, the pure realm of Dharma of the Tathagatas is also universally present in all kinds of knowable aspects, but it cannot be described, nor is it various, but one taste. In the Explanation of the Buddha Land Sutra, it says that the essence of other-dependence is the same as the perfectly established essence of suchness, therefore it is called one taste.

O! Furthermore, because in the Suchness that is thoroughly distinguished by complete imputation, there is no becoming of difference, therefore it is called one taste. Then, in order for the Bhagavan to truly show that meaning, this verse was spoken. From here onwards, it shows the second, which is the meaning of briefly indicating with verses. This also has two aspects: the introduction to showing with verses, and briefly indicating after mentioning two verses. This is the first. "All one taste nature, ultimate truth this reason, Buddhas without difference, thus they proclaim. Whoever in this reason, imagines differences, That one is definitely foolish, possessing manifest pride." This is the second, briefly indicating after mentioning the verses themselves. This can also be divided into two: with the first half of the verse, it praises the nature of one taste, which is equally proclaimed by the Buddhas. The latter two lines distinguish those who are foolish and cling to differences, and show that the meaning is extremely profound. Among these, with the first line of the first half of the verse, it shows that the nature of one taste pervades all, such as the aggregates. The following line shows that the nature of ultimate truth is equally proclaimed by the Buddhas. Or, "Ultimate truth this reason, Buddhas without difference, thus they proclaim." Among these, non-difference itself is the meaning of one taste, this is a synonym. The first of the latter half of the verse shows the thorough distinction of imputed differences. The latter word shows the place of imputation. If this verse is combined with the Sutra of Definitive Explanation of Words, then there will also appear one verse from it, and a single sentence such as "praising the words spoken by the Bhagavan." But that is not a definite example, therefore, in this Profound Meaning Unraveling Sutra and the Profound Meaning Unraveling Sutra, the latter verse will not appear. Furthermore, that phrase "performing praise" that appears at the end, In the Notebook of the Teacher of True Integrity, it says: "These latter words belong to the abiding of the Dharma." Therefore, it belongs within this chapter itself.
