This, which is called "to make it accessible," refers to making wisdom accessible by relying on the third noble eightfold path. For it, the antidote is the eightfold noble path. The opposing side is the eightfold wrong path. The others should be explained as before. The so-called eightfold noble path is as follows: right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration. In the treatise *Mahāvibhāṣā*, it is asked: What is the meaning of the so-called limb of the path? It is said: Because of completely seeking and focusing, it is called a limb of the path. Because it makes a limb of the path, it is called a limb of the path. Some say this: Because it completely seeks and focuses with this, it is called a limb of the path. If that is the case, then one is, and seven are not? It is said that seven are limbs of the path, because they follow the path, so the main one is made the master, so one limb of the path is taught. Again, some say that because it is a limb of the path, it is said to be a limb of the path. If that is the case, then seven are, and one is not? It is said: Right view is both the path and the limb of the path. The others are only limbs of the path, not the path, just as the discrimination of dharma is both enlightenment and a limb of enlightenment, and the other six are only limbs of enlightenment, not enlightenment. In the commentary on the *Noble Perfection of Wisdom*, it is said: This dharma is happiness and perfection, because it can enter the city of unconditioned nirvāṇa, so whoever practices this dharma is called the path. In the treatise *Yogācārabhūmi*, it is asked: Why is it called the eightfold noble path? It is said: Because the noble ones who have seen the four paths rely on the path of the eightfold complete assembly to completely abandon all afflictions and to fully realize liberation, it is called the eightfold noble path. Among them, the nature distinction refers to

The statements differ from each other. In the Abhidharmakośa, it is said that it is characterized by six dharmas, namely, right speech, limits of action, and livelihood, because they are the same as ethics. The Vaibhāṣikas hold that it is the nature of seven dharmas, because the two actions of body and speech are inseparable. The treatise *Nyāyānusāra* also teaches this. In the treatise *Mahāvibhāṣā*, there are three explanations: some say six, some say seven, the meaning of which is consistent with what is stated in the Abhidharmakośa. Some say eight, because right livelihood is not right speech and limits of action. In the treatise *Abhidharmasamuccaya*, it is said that the nature of the limbs of the path is as follows: right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration. These eight dharmas are called the self-nature of action. If asked, upon what occasion are the seven limbs of enlightenment and the eight limbs of the path taught? The answer is, if combined with the *Mahāvibhāṣā*, there are two explanations. Some say that the eightfold noble path is established in the stage of the path of seeing, and the limbs of enlightenment are established in the stage of the path of cultivation. Some say that the path of seeing is called the limbs of enlightenment, and the path of cultivation is called the eight limbs of the path. The investigators say that the correct meaning is that the former explanation is correct. In the Abhidharmakośa, there are also two explanations. One explanation is the same as that taught in the *Mahāvibhāṣā*. The other explanation is that the seven limbs of enlightenment exist in the stage of the path of seeing, and the eight limbs of the noble path exist in both the path of seeing and the path of cultivation. Here, if combined with the Mahāyāna scriptures, there are two explanations in the commentary on the *Ārya Prajñāpāramitā*, and most of the scriptures separately
