arises. Due to the power of clinging, perversion arises. Because of being perverted, arrogance arises. Some monks realize and focus on the cessation of the aggregates, which is called the fifth aspect of the aggregates. Thus, because they do not understand that complete purity is of one taste, they think that there is truly existing complete purity, and this clinging arises. Due to the power of this clinging, perversion arises. Because of being perverted, arrogance arises. Some monks realize the path of cessation of the aggregates, which is called the sixth path of cessation of the aggregates. Thus, because they do not understand that objects and consciousness are of one taste, they think that there is a path to attain true cessation, and this clinging arises. Due to the power of clinging, perversion arises, and because of being perverted, arrogance arises. The Dharma gate of the five aggregates has six meanings, just as the one taste is shown in six ways. Similarly, all Dharma gates, such as the twelve sources, should be applied in the same way. In another way of explanation, the first word shows the aspect of the nominal side, thus, the five aggregates are merely nominal, because there is nothing else. The second word shows the aspect of the meaning and manner side, although there are various different characteristics such as imputation, true Dharma, and the three times, as mentioned before, but in the true manner, it is one without self. The third word shows the aspect of what should be abandoned, which is the truth of arising, because it is affliction and karma. The fourth word shows the aspect of what should be known, which is the truth of suffering. The fifth word shows the aspect of what should be attained, which is the truth of cessation. The sixth word shows the aspect of what should be accomplished, which is the truth of the path. Similarly, the sources and so on also have these six aspects, and should be applied in this way. Here, the explanation is not like that, because obtaining the aggregates

This is a general explanation of the gateway to the Dharma of the five aggregates. This is a summary statement. "Obtaining the characteristics of the aggregates" means obtaining the characteristics of the self-nature and the specific characteristics of the aggregates. These two terms are general and should be used in conjunction with all subsequent terms. Therefore, in the following, in the Sutra Pitaka, only in terms of names, from "the aggregate of form" being established as the characteristic of self-nature or the characteristic of distinction, to "the aggregate of form is completely abandoned and fully known" being said as the characteristic of self-nature or the characteristic of distinction. Among them, self-nature refers to any dharma that possesses self-nature, such as the aggregate of form and the aggregate of feeling, and so on. Distinguishing the meaning of difference in self-nature is called the characteristic of difference, such as permanence and impermanence, contaminated and uncontaminated, and so on. The two terms, obtaining the arising of the aggregates and the exhaustion of the aggregates, reveal the yoga of impermanence of arising and ceasing. Therefore, in the following, the Sutra Pitaka says, "the characteristics of the arising and the characteristics of the cessation of the aggregates." In addition, other Sutras also say, "All conditioned things are impermanent, because they have the nature of arising and then decaying." Furthermore, the Yogacarabhumi says, "All conditioned things are impermanent, because they exist simultaneously with decay if they arise without being seized." The two terms, "obtaining the cessation of the aggregates" and "for the sake of obtaining the manifestation of the cessation of the aggregates," reveal the two truths of cessation and the path. Abandoning the truths of suffering and arising, one can obtain the truth of cessation. Due to the power of the path, abandoning the aggregates, cessation is manifested. The twelve ayatanas and so on should also be explained in a similar way. The meaning of the five aggregates is widely distinguished, and should be understood as described in the Samyukta-abhidharma-hrdaya. For example, some people are for the sake of obtaining the aggregates, and some people are similarly for the sake of obtaining the ayatanas.
