Not so. The thought of being superior to those who are inferior is called pride. The thought of being superior to those who are equal is called great pride. The thought of being superior to those who are superior is called pride beyond pride. It is said that the other eight forms of pride should be explained as appropriate. Therefore, the eight forms of pride should be explained as appropriate. The form of pride that thinks of oneself as equal is based on the middle and great forms, thus summarizing two forms of pride. The thought of considering equals as equals is called pride. The thought of considering those who are different as equal is called great pride. The pride of thinking oneself inferior relies on the great form, thus summarizing one form of pride. The thought of being slightly inferior to those who are very superior is called the pride of thinking oneself slightly inferior. Having superiority and no inferiority should also be explained as similar to thinking oneself inferior. Having equality and no superiority should be explained as similar to thinking oneself equal. Having inferiority and no equality should be explained as similar to thinking oneself superior. Three of these nine forms rely on three forms. Three rely on the middle and great forms. Three rely on the great form, and should be understood as before. Here, "with pride" is shown to combine the seven and nine forms of pride with manifest pride. There are also three different explanations for this. The teacher, Truthful Goodness, says that ordinary people have manifest pride, for example, for a yogi with an object, manifest pride arises with the thought, "I am a true yogi." Some say that ordinary people and learners of the two vehicles have manifest pride, for example, Arhats have abandoned the obscurations of afflictions. Therefore, the Lotus Sutra says that if someone says they have attained true Arhatship, do not believe their words.

It is said that there is no place to go. Some say that Arhats are also included, why? Because even without the pride of afflictions, there is still the pride of knowledge. If that is the case, then how should we understand what is said in the sacred Dharma Puṇḍarīka? The answer is that it was said under the influence of afflictions, but this is shown based on knowledge, so there is no contradiction between saying there is and saying there is not. Do Bodhisattvas below the seventh ground, etc., have manifest pride? The answer is that there are three explanations for this. Some say that manifest pride does not arise above the first ground, because they have attained the characteristic of the same taste in the ultimate sense. Some say that there is no fault if it occurs below the seventh ground. It is like what is said in the sutras, like intentionally generating it. Some say that not only does the pride of the obscuration of afflictions arise in the previous seven grounds, but also the pride of the obscuration of knowledge manifests, because each ground has superiority and inferiority in relation to each other. Does the Buddha fully understand the ultimate end of all sentient beings? The answer is that in the Great Treatise of Abhidharma, as it is said in the Vinaya, the Blessed One classified sentient beings into three categories under the Bodhi tree, as follows: A certain number are determined to be a collection of evil, a certain number are determined to be a collection of righteousness, and a certain number are determined to be a collection of uncertainty. It's like that. Is it classified based on the number of sentient beings or based on the power of the Dharma? If it is based on the power of sentient beings, then why is it said that the end of the ocean of sentient beings is immeasurable? If it is based on the power of the Dharma, then the Shravakas would also be able to classify, so what is not common between the Buddha and the Shravakas? Some say that it is classified based on the power of sentient beings. If that is the case, then why is it said that the end of the ocean of sentient beings is immeasurable?
