And combining the meanings, it should be understood as explained above. Then, the Blessed One, in order to truly show that meaning, spoke this verse. From here onwards, it is to show the nature that completely transcends the realm of speculation, divided into two: explaining extensively with single sentences and indicating briefly with verses. Up to this point, the extensive explanation with single sentences has ended, and now the brief indication with verses is shown. This can also be divided into two: showing the intention of speaking the verses and truly explaining the verses. This is the first. [Verse] Each individually self-aware, the object of experience is without characteristics, Inexpressible and all terminology is completely cut off, The speech of debate is completely pacified, the ultimate truth, The nature that transcends all discriminations. This is called the second, truly explaining with verses. This can also be divided into two: first, the five characteristics are shown separately with three lines, and the last line shows the five characteristics in general. Among them, the so-called "individually self-aware" is the repetition of the first characteristic. The so-called "object of experience without characteristics" is the repetition of the second characteristic. The so-called "inexpressible" is the repetition of the third characteristic.

Establishment, combining metaphor and meaning, and conclusion, this is precisely the inquiry. This is also explained in three ways: praising the Tathagata's well-spoken words, elucidating many disputes, and asking about one's own doubts. Praising the Tathagata's well-spoken words is also explained in two ways: praising the well-spoken words, and briefly explaining the well-spoken words, this is the first. Among them, "thereafter" refers to the time of inquiry. "Bodhisattva wisdom is extremely pure" is named from virtue, because true wisdom and the wisdom obtained thereafter are unadulterated goodness, free from all afflictions, so it is called extremely pure wisdom. Similar content also appears in the *Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra*. In the *Definitive Explanation of Words Sūtra*, it appears as "Bodhisattva Pure Wisdom". The teacher said in the *Commentary on True Reason*, this Bodhisattva abides on the ninth ground, can answer well the questions raised by others, and constantly turns the wheel of Dharma, therefore abides in the present with pure wisdom, and also has extremely pure wisdom, in order to generate pure wisdom in others, so it is called pure wisdom, as explained in detail in that treatise. Thus, the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, have two kinds of virtues, namely benefiting oneself and benefiting others. Among them, in order to praise benefiting oneself, it is said, "Bhagavat, it is truly rare." In order to praise benefiting others, it is said, "The Bhagavat has spoken well." If combined with the *Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra*, then rare and well-spoken are explained as combining both benefiting oneself and benefiting others, therefore, that treatise says that these five should be understood as rare and wonderful dharmas, namely being satisfied with causeless beings, and enduring immeasurable suffering in samsara for the sake of beings alone.

Furthermore, it is said that those sentient beings who are heavily afflicted and difficult to tame are able to understand the methods of taming well, and because they comprehend the meaning that is extremely difficult to realize, they follow it and possess inconceivable power. There is no contradiction because those Bodhisattvas explain the qualities of the Buddha by the qualities themselves. The meaning will be understood. As for what is called "well-spoken," it is as stated in the *Yogācārabhūmi*: "The Blessed One has spoken the Dharma well for two reasons: because the words and phrases are well distinguished and because it is easy to understand." Like this, those Dharmas that are difficult to realize become easy to understand because they are spoken by the Blessed One. Furthermore, in that same text, "well-spoken" is said to be because it is in accordance with reason and because it fully grasps special qualities. Furthermore, in that same text, it is said that because of four characteristics, the teachings spoken by the Tathāgata are called "well-spoken," as explained in detail in that text. For example, the Blessed One said that the characteristic of ultimate truth is extremely subtle, extremely profound, and transcends the oneness and difference of all phenomena, and is difficult to realize. This second "well-spoken" is a brief explanation. For example, in the sutras such as the *Sūtra Showing the Supreme Abode* spoken by the Blessed One, from "the characteristic of ultimate truth" to "difficult to realize." In the commentary of the teacher *Yangdagdenpa*, it says: Or, from the perspective of the three wisdoms, it is called extremely subtle because it is not to be known by ordinary individuals. It is called extremely profound because it is not to be known by the two vehicles. It is called difficult to realize because the Bodhisattvas on the ground cannot directly see it. Or, if combined with the three wisdoms, it is called extremely subtle because Suchness and conduct are not one.
