The element of earth arises. The treatise "Displaying Various Minds" also explains that it is in accordance with this meaning. The treatise "Compendium of Abhidharma Collections" and others state that attachment, hatred, and delusion are the nature of strife. Therefore, it says in the same text: How is it with strife? Those with strife, who and why should be examined as having strife? Answer: Relying on the nature of attachment, hatred, and delusion, taking up weapons, cutting with punishment, fighting, exposing faults, arguing, and gambling arise, because it is their nature, and because it is related to them, and because it is bound by them, and because it follows them, and because it is in accordance with them, and because it arises from their cause, it is seen as having strife. As many as are with outflows, so many are also with strife. It is said that the Dharma "Compendium of Abhidharma Collections" also shows the same meaning. The explanation of "their nature" and so on should be understood as explained in the section on outflows. Therefore, it says in the same text that "it is the nature of outflows" is called having outflows because the nature of the outflows corresponds to the outflows themselves. "Related to outflows" means that, for example, the mind and mental factors with outflows, and the eyes and so on with outflows, correspond similarly, and because they become the basis of outflows, they are called having outflows in order. "Bound by outflows" means that virtuous things with outflows, due to being in accordance with the power of outflows, can realize the manifestation of the next existence. "Following outflows" means that the phenomena of other places are related to the bad places of the outflows of other places. "In accordance" means that although it corresponds to the part of discernment and is related to the bad places of afflictions, because it establishes the nature of being without outflows, it turns its back on everything and is in accordance with its antidote. "Arising from the cause of outflows" means that

For example, the contaminated aggregates of an Arhat are designated as the aggregates of appropriation because they arise from previous afflictions. The fifteen realms, the ten sense bases, the three realms, and the aspects of the two sense bases, as well as the aspects of the noble path and the unconditioned, are neither conditioned nor contaminated, it is said. If related to the Yogācāra ground, all afflictions are said to be accompanied by strife. Therefore, what are the names of afflictions from that very source? There are many names, such as those that are universally joined, bonds, and latent tendencies, up to and including strife. Therefore, through the reasoning of the noble Dharma, it should be understood that it is completely beyond all characteristics of the object of contemplation and analysis of ultimate truth, which is the second conclusion, merely a connecting word. The noble Dharma should be understood in this way: for example, a person who relies on the taste of heat and cold for as long as they live cannot comprehend, infer, or desire the taste of honey or sugar. From this point onward is the fifth, which, by mentioning examples and repeating, shows what is called explanation. Here, five dharmas arise, and the teacher, with true truth, connects them with five pleasures, and by showing five examples, explains the previous five dharmas. These five pleasures are the pleasure of renunciation, the pleasure of complete abandonment, the pleasure of complete solitude, the pleasure of complete enlightenment, and the pleasure of nirvāṇa. The order of the five pleasures is also such that the pleasure of nirvāṇa is the supreme truth, while the other four pleasures are four forms that have arisen from combination. Among them, the pleasure of renunciation is the cause of nirvāṇa, and it will be accomplished through the power of the faculty of faith. The pleasure of complete abandonment is the collection of nirvāṇa, and it will be accomplished through the power of the faculty of diligence. The pleasure of complete solitude is the abode of the path of nirvāṇa, and it itself is nirvāṇa.
