There are three ways of traveling that arise from reasoning: The first is physical movement, such as flying in the sky like a bird. The second is through aspiration, such as reaching even very distant places simply by thinking of them as near. If there were no going and coming from the beginning, how could one speak of going to a distant place? Although this is a real going, it is called 'aspiration' because one goes to a very distant place by the power of thinking it is near. Alternatively, as the Bhagavan said, the realm of meditative absorption is inconceivable, and therefore only the Tathagata can comprehend it. The third is through the power of mind, such as reaching even very distant places simply by generating a thought and focusing on the object. This power is similar to mind, and therefore it is called 'the power of mind,' just as one can go as far as Akanistha by focusing on the realm of sentient beings. Among these three ways, the power of mind belongs only to the Buddhas. Physical movement and aspiration also belong to other vehicles. For example, the Bhagavan's miraculous knowledge is so swift that he can go wherever he wishes simply by generating a thought, whether near or far. Therefore, the Bhagavan said, 'The realm of the Buddhas is inconceivable.' Just as the sun emits rays, so too is the creation of bodies, just as one goes to distant places as one wishes, and therefore he is called the Tathagata. If it were not so, then disappearing from here and appearing there, without any interruption in between, would make the word 'going' meaningless. Alternatively, because the power of the Tathagata is inconceivable, he can go wherever he wishes simply by generating a thought, and it is immeasurable. Traveling by the power of mind belongs only to the Bhagavan. Aspiration also belongs to other noble ones. Physical movement also belongs to ordinary beings. Here, if we combine this with the Great Vehicle treatise, the Commentary on the Perfection of Wisdom, the activities will be slightly different. Therefore, from that very text, one can transform at will.

There are three kinds of mastery: the ability to go, the mastery over transformation, and the noble wish-fulfilling. The ability to go is also of four kinds: flying the body in the sky without obstruction like a bird, transforming a long distance into a short distance and arriving without going, disappearing from here and appearing there, and arriving in a single instant. Mastery over transformation is to make the large small, the small large, to make one into many, to make many into one, and to transform all kinds of things. The transformation of the heretics lasts no more than seven days after it is achieved. The Buddha and his disciples, having mastered transformation, have no concept of long or short duration. The noble wish-fulfilling is to regard as completely pure those things among the six external objects that are undesirable and impure, and to regard as impure those things that are desirable and completely pure. This Dharma of mastery is possessed only by the Buddha. Furthermore, in the commentary on the Prajñāpāramitā, it is said that the sutras state that there are sixteen kṣaṇas in one se-gol. If it is said that in one kṣaṇa one can reach a world system with as many grains of sand as the Ganges River in one direction, it is difficult to believe. What need is there to mention that in a very short time one can reach world systems with as many grains of sand as the Ganges River in ten directions? It is said in the sutras that there are five things that are inconceivable, namely: the number of sentient beings, the maturation of karma, the power of yogis, the power of nāgas, and the power of the Buddhas. Among the five inconceivable things, the power of the Buddhas is the most inconceivable. When Bodhisattvas enter deep samādhi, inconceivable powers arise, therefore, in a single instant, they are able to reach the Buddha-fields in the ten directions.
