The sentient beings of the ten bhumis, past, future, and present, with various merits such as generosity and ethics. The term "merit" refers to the mind that is not attached, without hatred, and without ignorance, as well as what arises from the mind, and the actions of body and speech that are aroused by it. The meaning of obtaining and cutting off these is merit. Therefore, for ordinary beings, learners, and non-learners, all the merits of all of them. This is called a learner, which refers to those who have generated the noble path but have not yet fully accomplished the purpose of a person, because they have something to learn, so they are learners. Non-learners are those who have generated the noble path through the instructions of others, have abandoned the afflictions that operate in the three realms, and have fully accomplished the purpose of a person, so there is no need to learn, so they are non-learners. Those who have perfected the accumulation of wisdom in one kalpa, have attained the noble path without the instructions of others, and have entered into a state of separation from the three realms, because they do not have great compassion, do not have the activity of bestowing teachings on others, and only become Buddhas alone, these are the Pratyekabuddhas. The term "Buddha-son" refers to those bodhisattvas who abide from the stage of adhimukti-carya to the stage of dharma-megha. They are called Buddha-sons in order to prevent the lineage of the Buddhas from being cut off. The Victorious Ones are the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, who are completely victorious over all maras. I rejoice in all the merits of those Buddhas who abide at all times, and the immeasurable, inconceivable, incomparable, infinite like space, becoming the realm of all Buddhas, the merits of all those mentioned above. I also rejoice greatly in those who perform meritorious deeds, manifest their accumulation of merit, and abide. I also follow them, and with the wisdom of faith, I moisten all those roots of virtue in my own continuum, rejoicing or praising them together, considering them as one with the same taste, and thereby rejoicing. Joy should be generated, by this method

All those immeasurable collections of merit done by... are completely taken by the mind, which is the concluding statement. Thus, by prostrating to the Tathagata and so on, one's own accumulation of merit is also completely taken by rejoicing, and by confessing sins, one's mind stream is also completely purified. The accumulation of merit done by others is also completely taken by rejoicing, and by accumulating immeasurable collections of merit, one wishes to completely purify the superior intention to benefit sentient beings. Therefore, he said, "Those who are lamps of the ten directions of the world." Those who in the ten directions of the world, the Buddha-fields are extremely vast, like lamp vessels, filled with great compassion, like oil. The body adorned with the thirty-two marks of a great person and the eighty minor marks, like a wick. The Prajnaparamita, the great wisdom, the fire of wisdom blazing fiercely. The ten directions are boundless, the rays of light shine forth, the mandala of immeasurable merit radiates, destroying all the darkness of ignorance, these are the lamps of the world, the Thus Gone Ones. From the supreme place of enlightenment, they gradually become Buddhas, attain the most supreme Buddhahood, attain freedom from attachment, and comprehend the Dharma that is difficult for all the world to understand. Therefore, they remain silent, not turning the wheel of Dharma, like Pratyekabuddhas, not disregarding the benefit of sentient beings. However, in order to proclaim the profound Dharma, and in order to generate respect for the sacred Dharma, they accept the invitation. In order for those who have aspiration to accumulate collections of merit, they themselves do not turn the wheel. Therefore, in order to turn the wheel of Dharma, I will invite them with prostrations and so on as a preliminary. Unsurpassed because it is different from everything in the world. Thus, by inviting the Buddhas who have not yet appeared, one completely purifies the superior intention to benefit sentient beings. And again, in order to completely purify by making requests, therefore he said, "Those who desire to show Nirvana."
