The mind of enlightenment is completely lost. Then, for those who are empty of all the qualities of mind, acting in a wrong way, countless afflictions cannot be prevented, and they flow freely as they please. By remembering past lives, that (bodhicitta) will arise. Then comes discipline. Then it is to fully ripen sentient beings. Then it will definitely change. Then it is to be joined with the pāramitās. Then one will not forget the mind of enlightenment. Then, having abandoned the obscurations, the order of not abandoning the mind of enlightenment is like that. This occasion shows the discipline pāramitā that is gathered by practice with faith. Now, in order to show the accomplishment of not forgetting and not being stained by the mind of enlightenment, the verses beginning with "From the deeds of karma and afflictions, the deeds of demons," etc., are spoken. This (verse) shows in order what is not stained by what, where, and how. By what is it not stained? By all actions. Karma is thought and what is done by it, therefore, if one has committed unwholesome actions, one should apply oneself to the practice of being liberated from those (unwholesome actions). Is it liberation from some actions? No, because it is said that it is also from afflictions. Afflictions are desire, etc., which cause suffering to the body and mind stream, and make it impure, so they are afflictions. Is it only liberation from karma and afflictions? No. Then what is it? It is said that it is also from the deeds of demons. Because they obstruct virtuous Dharma, they are demons. Those demons are also the sons of gods, etc., as well as attachment to relatives, places, views, and so on. When thinking about where not to be stained, it is said in the world of beings. Because it is destroyed, it is the world. There are also two kinds of worlds, namely sentient beings and containers. Those are the beings of the world, meaning that when wandering in the beings, one should practice without being stained. Being stained is making it impure, and because there is no that (impurity), it is not being stained. When thinking about how, this is clarified by the example of "like a lotus," for example, when a lotus grows out of the water, it grows without being stained by the water, in the same way, I also to all beings

Renouncing attachment, anger, and so on is called non-attachment. Like the sun and moon, for example, the sun and moon move in the sky, and although they produce heat and cold, just as they abandon attachment and anger towards living beings, so too, in order to ripen all sentient beings, I also move in the sky of samsara, abandoning attachment and anger, and act. This shows the patience paramita, which is included in the ground of practice through faith. Thus, dwelling in abandonment of attachment and anger, in order to show that obstacles to benefiting sentient beings will not arise, it is said: "It pacifies the sufferings of the lower realms." It means that due to extremely evil actions, one falls from the happy realms to the lower realms, hence the name lower realms. All the suffering and discomfort experienced in these realms must be completely pacified. After complete pacification, these sentient beings should also be placed in excellent happiness. Happiness is experiencing coolness, benefiting the senses. Thus, eliminating the suffering that arises now and attaining unparalleled happiness, in order to benefit sentient beings and cause them to abide in future, lasting happiness, it is said: "Benefit all beings." It means that in order to benefit all beings, that is, all sentient beings without exception, one must practice in the unsurpassed nirvana. Where to practice? "In all directions, as far as the world extends." It means in all the different Buddha fields in the ten directions. This shows the diligence paramita, which is included in the ground of practice through faith. Thus, having shown the complete acceptance of means in the accumulation of merit, in order to completely accept the accumulation of wisdom, "In accordance with the conduct of sentient beings." And so on, showing the donning of armor. In samsara, sentient beings who are increased by karma and afflictions will develop attachment, hence the name sentient beings. Their conduct is the nature of various forms of physical and verbal actions arising from the differences of sentient beings.
