As in "Those desiring land here," etc. How some individuals desiring merit, for countless billions of trillions of hundreds of thousands of eons, served and honored the Tathagatas and constantly practiced service and honor. If another desiring merit, with a very pure mind from this profound Dharma principle, even with just one verse, upholds it in the degenerate age of the Dharma, then the former's rain of merit cannot reach it. As it is said, "That cannot reach the former's rain of merit," the meaning is: the rain of merit from making offerings and serving the Tathagatas mentioned earlier also cannot reach it, which is the most important. Therefore, "This difference is superior in this way," etc., is for summarizing. Immeasurable merit surpasses comparison, like the sky, it is obtained here, becoming the master of language and the supreme tamer, that Bodhisattva is the Buddha's son. This completes the explanation of the eleventh chapter, the chapter on upholding the Sutra Pitaka. Now is the chapter on following the practice of Samadhi. As it is said, "That youth," etc., in the chapter on upholding the Sutra Pitaka, with words that first proclaim the benefits, youth, the mind is without self-nature, without form, unmanifest, etc. Because it is without self-nature, it is without form. Because it is without form, it cannot be definitely indicated as "this is this, this is this." How is the mind? The qualities of the Buddha are also like that, the Tathagata is also like that, all Dharmas are also like that. Whichever Bodhisattva thoroughly understands this will surely be skilled in examination. That one is skilled in understanding the arising of the three realms, acts as he speaks, is not attached to the three realms, completely transcends the three realms, and is free from manifest attachment to the desire realm, form realm, formless realm, afflictions, sounds, and letters, that one is skilled in the principle of Dharma. Because he is fully endowed with wisdom skilled in discerning the principles of all Dharmas, he will not be overcome by others. When this Dharma category is explained, thousands upon thousands of gods and human beings who have previously purified themselves.

The so-called ninety-eight refers to cultivating hundreds of thousands of kotis, up to having the power of endurance for the profound Dharma. Dharani is wisdom. One attains individual, unobstructed endurance. The Bhagavan's prediction of them is because they will definitely become Buddhas. To this, it should be said: etc., the verses are again explaining that meaning. Bodhisattva wise ones, etc., for a Bodhisattva who wishes to attain unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment, in order to know that all dharmas have the same nature in dharmata, one should cultivate the samadhi of completely pacifying the proliferation of the equality of the nature of all dharmas with a steadfast mind that is free from various discriminations. The Tathagata is the Dharmakaya, not the Rupakaya, because all the superimposing discriminations have been completely abandoned. Seeing the inconceivable Dharmakaya is seeing the Buddha. It is seeing samadhi. Similarly, recognizing that all dharmas are of the nature of space, the mind that does not rely on the three realms, with a mind that is not moved by Mara and all discriminations, abides in the bliss of samadhi. Even if one realizes the nature of dharmas as unborn and unceasing, the precepts of discipline spoken by the Tathagata are not abandoned, and wherever one sees the benefit of sentient beings, one will be born there by the power of aspiration. Because it is said in the sutras that the aspiration of being endowed with discipline will be fulfilled. One cultivates patience, makes diligent effort, does not degenerate from meditation, and learning the wisdom that is characterized by skillfully distinguishing dharmas is following the samadhi. Fixing the mind on consciousness to generate samadhi is completely non-mentation. To truly follow this is what is said here as practice. The chapter on following samadhi, the explanation of the twelfth is completed. In order to closely show the nature of samadhi after learning samadhi, one should be skilled in determining samadhi.
