This is loving-kindness, and it is also prophesied that he will become a Tathagata. The king named Flower Supreme, who offered to the Tathagata Lord of Assemblies, was also prophesied to become a Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened Buddha, named Lotus Supreme. Thus, by listening to the Dharma, contemplating, and meditating for countless eons, he manifested the three kinds of forbearance in order to realize them directly. Just as I previously cultivated the power of patience, you should also follow and learn, this is the instruction to the Moon Youth. After I pass into Nirvana, when the Holy Dharma is about to perish, many monks will appear who are diligent and attached to the doctrines of non-Buddhists. They will provoke my Holy Dharma—emptiness, which destroys all evil views. They will enter into the thick darkness of ignorance, destroying themselves and destroying others, so be mindful of this. Just as drinking the nectar that pacifies all diseases, having faith in emptiness is called ordination in my teachings. Fully upholding the precepts of a Bhikshu, and performing Uposatha and other activities, is also acceptable. Therefore, one should disregard body and life, and meditate on the equality of the nature of all dharmas, the Samadhi of non-proliferation—emptiness, which is the nature of Suchness. In order to offer and honor all the Tathagatas, with an unwearied mind, one should cultivate the Paramitas and the roots of virtue that accomplish the Bhumis. All offerings and rituals, etc., are also included in this, so I will not elaborate. When the practice of emptiness cannot eliminate attachment and other afflictions, the antidote to attachment is ugliness, the antidote to hatred is loving-kindness, and the antidote to ignorance is wisdom, therefore one should practice ugliness and so on, these are all instructions, which should be applied universally. The mind that has abandoned the eight worldly dharmas.

By clinging solely to the manifestation of seeking the suchness of Dharma-nature as it is, one becomes a Buddha by practicing accordingly, not just by words, as it is taught. The son of the Buddha, the Sugata, is strung with a garland of light, and the light of his fame pervades all realms without exception. After virtues and wisdom have fully illuminated him, he becomes here the protector of the Shakya, the ultimate protector. The light of fame is the supreme knowledge of him. The king of Samadhi is known to possess qualities. He is made very clear by the light of fame. The light of fame has become the master of the able here. The commentary on the thirty-eighth chapter, the Light of Fame, is complete. Now, the Bodhisattva is restrained by the vows of body, speech, and mind, because all the qualities of the Buddha necessarily arise from the three vows, so one will definitely attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, so one should strive diligently in this, as it is said. In order to closely show the vows of the body, the Blessed One then spoke, and so on. Among them, there are two kinds of vows of the body: the ultimate truth and the conventional truth. The body of the ultimate truth is the Dharmakaya. Making it manifest and protecting it is called the vow of the body. The true supreme and the main are the vows, the vows of the body. In order to show this, the great Bodhisattva who possesses which vows of the body becomes unattached to all dharmas, that is called the vow of the body, as it is said, and so on. The Dharmakaya itself becomes unattached to all dharmas.

The ten powers are: the power of special faith, the power of individual examination, the power of cultivation, the power of patience, the power of wisdom, the power of renunciation, the power of fearlessness, the power of hearing, the power of merit, and the power of realization. The detailed explanations of these should be understood from the commentary on the "Namasangiti" (The Discourse on the Exact Utterance of Names). The ten powers of the Tathagata are: the power of knowing what is possible and impossible, the power of knowing the maturation of actions, the power of knowing various realms, the power of knowing various inclinations, the power of knowing the superiority or inferiority of various faculties, the power of knowing the path leading everywhere, the power of knowing meditative absorptions, liberations, concentrations, and attainments, the power of knowing the recollection of past lives, the power of knowing death and rebirth, and the power of knowing the exhaustion of defilements. The explanations of these should also be understood from there. What are the four fearlessnesses? If someone claims, 'I have perfectly realized complete and perfect enlightenment,' no one among the ascetics or Brahmins can find any reason to argue with me in accordance with the Dharma, saying, 'You have not perfectly realized complete and perfect enlightenment.' Because no reason can be found, I have attained happiness, attained freedom from worry, and attained fearlessness. This is the first fearlessness. Similarly, if I say, 'I have exhausted the defilements,' no one can argue with me, saying, 'You have not exhausted the defilements.' Similarly, if I have taught the path of liberation, no one can say, 'This is neither the cessation of suffering nor the path of liberation.' Also, if I say that a certain Dharma will cause an obstruction, no one can argue with me in accordance with the Dharma, saying, 'This is not an obstruction,' just as mentioned before, coming from among the ascetics and Brahmins. Obtaining the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha means that from the night the Tathagata perfectly realized complete and perfect enlightenment until the night the Tathagata passed into complete nirvana, the Tathagata had no confusion, no clamor, and no lack of focus.
