Because there is no arrogance, it is not the superior intention to approach others with falsehood and flattery. The order of the causes that will not be completely lost is that the cause of not exhausting the mind of enlightenment is to familiarize oneself with truthful words, therefore the bodhisattva who does not regress from the mind of enlightenment, because there is no falsehood and flattery, therefore from the mind of enlightenment arises the intention to benefit others, with the superior intention abiding in front of all sentient beings. The extremely rare and immeasurable Dharma arising from the intention to benefit others arising from the mind of enlightenment, focusing on one's own continuum, respecting the mind of enlightenment, and because the mind of enlightenment is also the cause of omniscience, therefore generating the thought of seeing all bodhisattvas as teachers. Because one does not desire a temporary vehicle, therefore with respect for the mind of enlightenment, all those sentient beings who can be ripened are established in the unexcelled perfect enlightenment. The mind for enlightenment is the mind of enlightenment, which is a synonym for the cause of enlightenment. It is said, thus first generate the mind of enlightenment, becoming a Buddha, what is its nature? What is its manner? What does it focus on? What are its qualities? What are its distinctions? What does it encompass? What is its root? What is its fruit? What is its place? It is said, first, truly aspiring is its nature, aspiring with intention is its manner, focusing on enlightenment and also focusing on the benefit of sentient beings, because it is the cause of omniscience, therefore its qualities are immeasurable, surpassing all the aspirations of worldly beings, hearers, and solitary realizers, therefore it is extremely excellent, encompassed by the stage of faith conduct, it is the root of unexcelled perfect enlightenment, it is the fruit of compassion, it is the place of the bodhisattva's training. In short, initially generating the mind of enlightenment, there is arising and non-arising, arising refers to that which, once arisen, continuously follows without ceasing, its opposite also has two aspects, namely cessation and non-cessation. Among them, cessation refers to that which, once degenerated, no longer arises, non-cessation refers to that which

Everything arises again. The mind also arises from four conditions, four causes, and four powers. What are the four conditions? They are seeing or hearing the exceedingly wondrous miracles of the Tathagata, hearing the Dharma that originates from the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, holding beings with loving-kindness and compassion, causing the holy Bodhisattva's Dharma to abide for a long time, and seeing the exceedingly suffering beings of the degenerate age. What are the four causes? They are having a complete lineage, having a complete noble spiritual friend, compassion, and not being afraid of the various long-lasting sufferings of samsara, not being good, and not fearing the uninterrupted hells. What are the four powers? They are self-power, other-power, causal-power, and application-power. Desiring unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment through one's own strength is self-power. Desiring to generate it through the strength of others is other-power. Having previously accustomed oneself to virtuous Dharma that is greatly endowed with the Mahayana is causal-power. Relying on a noble person in this life, listening to the holy Dharma, contemplating, and so forth, and having accustomed oneself to virtuous Dharma for a long time is application-power. Depending on whether the four conditions and four causes are gathered or not, if the two powers, self-power and causal-power, are gathered, then the mind that arises is stable, has essence, and arises immovably. The mind that arises from other-power and application-power should be known to arise unstably. Its opposite causes should also be known as four: not having a complete lineage, being completely controlled by evil friends, having little compassion for beings, and fearing the suffering of samsara. Remaining in the undegenerated Bodhicitta, one should practice virtuous Dharmas that are completely encompassed by the accumulations of merit and wisdom. Thus practicing, one teaches the Dharma of the causes for the complete exhaustion and increase of that virtuous Dharma. The Bhagavan (梵文:Bhagavan,梵文罗马拟音:bhagavān,汉语字面意思:世尊) said to the Bodhisattva Light Protector, "If a Bodhisattva possesses four qualities, then virtuous Dharma..."
