It should be known that wisdom arises from listening. Just as if a fire were burning on one's head or skull, one should show all actions with great respect in order to fully seek listening. For example, if a fire were burning on a person's head or skull, he would abandon all affairs and strive to extinguish the fire on his head or skull. Likewise, a Bodhisattva, because listening is the cause of wisdom, and wisdom is also the cause of attaining omniscience. With respect, one should fully seek listening. Desiring to benefit oneself and others, one should uphold the Dharma as it has been heard. To practice the meaning of what has been heard as it is, is to make practice the essence. By making practice the essence, wisdom that follows its reasoning will arise. The so-called not clinging to speech and expression means not clinging to speech, not clinging to expression, that is, not clinging to speech and expression, not clinging to listening as sufficient, not clinging to explanation as sufficient, that is its definition. Or, not clinging to unnecessary and meaningless words, that is its definition. The order of these is that because one does not respect the Dharma, one does not practice the Dharma that accords with the Dharma, and because one is stingy with the Dharma, one creates obstacles to the Dharma for those who desire the Dharma. He completely loses the three causes of wisdom, and because his wisdom is corrupted, he is a person with pride. The white side is the opposite of this, that is, with a mind of respect for the Dharma, one enters the Dharma that accords with the Dharma. Having entered the Dharma that accords with the Dharma, one is free from stinginess towards the Dharma, and one widely and correctly shows the Dharma as it has been heard to others. In order to teach the Dharma, one should fully seek extensive listening. Having listened extensively, one makes practice the essence, which is the cause of benefiting oneself and others, and not clinging to speech and expression. Wisdom is the root of Bodhicitta. Bodhicitta is the root of omniscience, and in order not to forget Bodhicitta, Bodhicitta.

In order to explain the causes of degeneration and non-degeneration, the Blessed One's Light-Holder Bodhisattva said that the mind of enlightenment, which possesses four qualities, will degenerate. He said: Why are there only four causes of degeneration, neither more nor less? He said: Because there are four types of degeneration. In short, there are four types of degeneration: degeneration due to not speaking, degeneration due to speaking falsely because one sees faults in the mind of enlightenment, degeneration of the mind of symbolic meaning that has been properly taken, and degeneration of the mind obtained by nature. The cause of these four types of degeneration is the four degenerations themselves, which should be understood in order. Deceiving the Khenpo, Lama, and the object of offerings means not speaking truthfully to the Lamas about one's own true state, but deceiving them with false words. Among them, the Khenpo is the guide and close instructor, who says, "Such and such a fault has occurred," and points out, "This is not something to be done," thus showing the way to be freed from faults, and teaching, "This is how you should do it." The Lama is the one who wishes to benefit. The object of offerings, although not included in the count, possesses qualities. Because of their compassion, they advise, but they confuse what I have experienced with false words, and therefore great karmic obscurations and so on arise. Because of great karmic obscurations, one should know that one degenerates from the mind of enlightenment by not speaking. Even if one is not able to confuse, one will degenerate from the mind of enlightenment simply because of the obscuration of the fault of being accustomed to falsehood. This is the first cause. Causing regret to those who have no regret means creating perversion in the place of no regret for those who practice similarly in purity. Those who practice similarly in purity and abide near the correct training are confused by the words of training. Therefore, because they engage in extra thoughts that do not conform to pure conduct, they confuse the words of training with deceit and flattery, thereby creating unbearable karmic obscurations and so on. Therefore, because one speaks falsely because one sees faults in the mind of enlightenment, one will degenerate from the mind of enlightenment.
