So it is. Thereafter, the five hundred monks and others went along the path where the two emanation monks had gone, and said thus: Venerable ones, where are you going? The two said: We wish to abide in the pleasure of meditation in secluded places. Why is that? We do not enter into the Dharma taught by the Blessed One, we do not think or believe, and we are afraid, extremely afraid, completely and extremely afraid, so we shall abide in the pleasure of meditation in secluded places. The five hundred monks and others said thus: Venerable ones, we also do not enter into the Dharma taught by the Blessed One, we do not think or believe, and we are afraid, extremely afraid, completely and extremely afraid. Therefore, we shall also abide in the pleasure of meditation in secluded places. The two emanations said: Venerable ones, therefore we should proceed correctly, we should not argue, and upholding the Dharma without argument is the Dharma of a renunciant. Venerable ones, what is called complete Nirvana? What is the Dharma that leads to complete Nirvana? Is it the self in this body, or a sentient being? Or a being? Or a person? Or an individual? Or one born of power? Or a child? Who will attain complete Nirvana? What is extinguished to attain complete Nirvana? They said: Through the extinction of desire, the extinction of hatred, and the extinction of delusion, one attains complete Nirvana. The two emanations said: Venerable ones, is it because there is desire, hatred, and delusion? Or how are they extinguished? They said: They are not within, nor are they without, nor are they found where both are absent, and they do not arise even from that which is completely unconsidered. To say thus is because they cling to the opposite of Nirvana, and are afraid due to pride, so there is no sentient being that causes complete Nirvana, nor is it that they go from having desire and so forth to extinction, but rather that those unborn ones, their very lack of birth, is Nirvana, thus completely

Therefore, through the correct posture, people will have faith in Nirvana. The two emanations said: Venerable ones, therefore, do not discriminate, do not completely discriminate, that is, for the inner and outer places, apply "I" and "mine" in order. Venerable ones, when there is no discrimination, no complete discrimination, then there will be no attachment, because there is no arising of desire. Nor will there be detachment from attachment, because there is no detachment without arising. What is it that has no desire and no detachment from desire? That is peace, and the reason for saying this is to thoroughly seek the attachment of transforming from non-peace to peace. Venerable ones, morality does not revolve, nor does it attain Nirvana. Venerable ones, neither does concentration, wisdom, liberation, and the wisdom of liberation revolve, nor does it completely attain Nirvana. Venerable ones, when these dharmas show complete Nirvana, these dharmas are also emptiness, stillness, and ungraspable. Who is the peaceful one? Not revolving is because there are no afflictions. Not completely attaining Nirvana is because the nature is completely Nirvana, and for them, there is no other situation of transforming from previously non-peace to peace. Venerable ones, because there is nothing, abandon the thought of "I have attained Nirvana." Do not grasp Nirvana with the thought of "I will completely attain Nirvana." Do not understand Nirvana with thoughts of desire, etc., because the absence of desire, etc., is Nirvana, do not widely understand the thought of Nirvana. The absence of desire, etc., is Nirvana. That is because it is bound by that thought, because it is an obstacle to abiding in the absence of characteristics. After showing the method of exhausting defilements, then show the method of attaining the cessation samadhi in order to abide in happiness in this life. Venerable ones, enter the realm of the cessation of perception and feeling.
