Discipline is because of the absence of pride. That samadhi, called 'untainted,' is because it arises in sequence from the absence of regret, etc., without tasting the flavor of meditative absorption. Before that, seeking to fully cultivate wisdom is through right effort. The mind liberated from looking at the assembly of destruction, called 'vastly arising,' is through right mindfulness. By abiding in discipline, one also obtains samadhi, which is called right samadhi. Having obtained samadhis, one cultivates wisdom intensely, which is for the sake of completely abandoning the remaining pervasive activities. Through wisdom, one obtains pure knowledge, which is knowing the exhaustion and knowing the non-arising. Thus, this manifested verse fully shows the cultivation of the pure aspects of enlightenment. Starting from the purification of the path of action, to other categories. By abandoning unfavorable aspects and through the purification of antidotes, the purification of turning back from killing is fully shown. Among these, abandoning unfavorable aspects is abandoning the imprints of killing and its root. The antidote is three purifications: turning back from them, purification from not knowing contentment, purification without obscurations, and completely purifying all pervasive activities by not clinging to what is definitely ripening. Abandoning the causes of taking what is not given, fear, faults, enemies, stealing, enjoyment, manifestation, and abandoning the afflictions that are its root, abandoning the labor of taking what is not given, harm such as killing and binding, and abandoning the arrogance of its wealth, thus fully showing the purification of turning back from taking what is not given. Not looking at the body of a woman and going forth as a renunciate, and abandoning the root of saying that renunciation will bind one to suffering, practicing celibacy without desire, becoming the door of pure faculties, completely abandoning non-objects of practice, and cultivating antidotes such as ugliness, thus fully showing the purification of turning back from sexual misconduct motivated by desire.

Why? Because one abandons what is called lying, which is the source of fear, and possesses the wisdom of listening and thinking, etc., as its antidote, and because one abandons speaking false words that harm oneself and others based on what, therefore, the purity of completely turning away from lying is fully shown. In order to completely abandon one's own faults, for the sake of the place, for the sake of liking, not making divisive speech, this is because what does not exist? Because attachment to external sense objects does not exist within it, and because there is no attachment, therefore one does not reconcile, is not harsh, does not like disharmony, does not approve of disharmony, and does not speak words that lead to disharmony. Because what produces these is the afflictions such as attachment, the purity of completely turning away from divisive speech is fully shown. Without the basis of intolerance, and with the basis of tolerance, the purity of completely turning away from harsh speech is fully shown. Among these, the basis of intolerance is the mind attached to name and form. The basis of tolerance is the power of individual examination, and the power of taming the mind and meditating single-pointedly, the absence of afflictions is natural tolerance. By abandoning the three kinds of idle talk, the purity of completely turning away from idle talk is fully shown. The three kinds of idle talk are possessing praise for oneself and disparagement of others, possessing evil disparagement, and possessing boasting of one's own views. By abandoning the three kinds of covetousness, the purity of completely turning away from covetousness is fully shown. The three kinds of covetousness are the high abode, the abode for making others believe, and the abode for obtaining learning and respect. By abandoning the basis of harmful intent, the purity of completely turning away from harmful intent is fully shown. Its basis is the view of the perishable collection, that is, I have been harmed, this is harming me, thus universally generating harmful intent. The characteristic of abandoning it is twofold: when acting on objects, the self-grasping and the grasping of what belongs to the self do not arise universally, and when thinking about the Dharma, one believes in the emptiness of the Buddha's manifest complete perfect enlightenment. The antidote purity is turning away from wrong view.
