It should be understood that only through diligent practice can one recognize that one has been well-trained. The four types of people during the time of Kashyapa Buddha and those with bad conduct who appear to be virtuous are similar. If asked what these four are and how to define the boundaries, then true practitioners will demonstrate true discipline, while those who appear to be virtuous will demonstrate false discipline. What is it to abide in false discipline? These four types of people should be clearly recognized. These people are called those who abide in false discipline because they have lost the lineage of discipline due to clinging to self and other reasons. The first is the discipline with six branches, but damaged by two harms. What are the six branches? During the time of Kashyapa Buddha, some monks were virtuous, they were bound and abided by the Pratimoksha vows, possessed perfect demeanor, perfect conduct, avoided even the smallest faults, and did not cling to persons. For those who cling to persons, there is no antidote, no establishment or refutation, thus it is said. For the selflessness of persons, there is nothing to cling to; for that which has nothing to cling to, its antidote is not not clinging, thus it is said. They cling to forms and so on as sentient beings, and for binding and clinging there, the antidote is no sentient being, binding to sentient beings, thus it is said. For the speech bound there, for binding and clinging there, the antidote is no speech, binding to speech, thus it is said. For the mind bound there, for binding and clinging there, the antidote is no mind, binding to mind, thus it is said. For the third type of person who abides in discipline, it is to be born in the upper realms and completely abandon the lower realms. For this, the antidote is no world, not no world, thus it is said. Relying on samadhi, relying on desire, for this, the antidote is no reliance, not no reliance, thus it is said. For correctly clinging to one's own discipline and being arrogant towards the discipline of others, the antidote is not praising one's own discipline and not slandering the discipline of others, thus it is said. For the fourth type of person who abides in discipline, it is one's own conduct.

Thinking that one has discipline and giving rise to pride, to counteract this, it is said not to be proud of discipline. For those who fully understand its nature and differences, to counteract the full understanding of discipline, it is said not to discriminate about discipline. For the discipline without outflows, the phenomena of elaboration are pacified. This is the discipline without outflows of the noble ones, this is the word of the teaching. Not possessing it is because it transcends the world. Separated is because it does not possess all the afflictions. The absence of all dependence is because it has become the antidote to the three realms. Among them, the verses are to be understood as showing the विशेषता of the complete purity of discipline, therefore, the भगवत spoke these verses at that time. Possessing discipline, without stain and without anything. The first root of this verse is that the nature is completely pure because it is free from defilement, and because there is nothing such as desire, its basis is completely pure, thus completely showing that the nature and basis of discipline are completely pure. The remaining three roots completely show that discipline itself is completely pure with the help and basis. Among them, in order to counteract the companions and foundations of bad character, one should know how to establish the companions and foundations of discipline. Among them, there are three companions of bad character, namely, pride, which is based on form, etc. To counteract it, it is said: The one with discipline has no pride, because there is no dependence. With the nature of complete ignorance, like a dark view, enjoying the taste of absorption, having the basis of bondage. To counteract it, one must see fear, correctly accept the precepts and learn. Because of the complete purity of the actions of body, speech and mind, even if one lives in a pure life. What are those two harms? Saying that one clings to self, this is all the clinging to the view of the perishable collection, and the source of unpurified faults. The second is the complete abandonment of those two faults. Maitreya Bodhisattva also said that some monks here are Vinaya holders.
