The distinction lies in illustrating with two examples. For instance, just as seeds do not grow from the sky, and seeds grow from soil filled with fertilizer, these two examples demonstrate this. Although Bodhisattvas contemplate nirvana, they fully embrace samsara out of consideration for sentient beings, dedicating all roots of virtue to attain the Dharma of the Buddhas, and thus remain in samsara for a long time. Thus, unconditioned nirvana is like the sky; if one abides in it, the Dharmas of the Buddhas will not arise. But Bodhisattvas who abide in the realm of compassion, abiding in the world of sentient beings filled with the fertilizer of afflictions, like soil filled with fertilizer, abide there, and the Dharmas of the Buddhas of the Bodhisattvas will grow. It is said: How can the supreme Dharma of the Buddhas of the Bodhisattvas arise from the lower conditioned state? The example of the lotus fully proves it. For example, just as a lotus grows from muddy sludge containing fertilizer, similarly, for sentient beings who dwell in the muddy sludge that is definitely the fertilizer of afflictions, the Dharmas of the Buddhas of the Bodhisattvas will grow. It is said: If that is the case, then the twelve distinctions between Bodhisattvas and Shravakas will be lost, namely: the distinction of manifesting the roots of virtue of liberation, the distinction of manifesting the wisdom gathered by knowing the exhaustion and non-arising of the fruit of liberation, the general distinction of liberation, the distinction of destroying demons and adversaries, the distinction of non-learning, the distinction of being worthy of offering because of being worthy of offering, the distinction of being designated as the supreme of the Sangha in terms of the four pairs of persons and the eight individuals, the distinction of attaining nirvana in this life and being designated as the supreme of Dharma speakers because of becoming a Dharma speaker, the distinction of being designated as the supreme of sentient beings in terms of all sentient beings and all nine abodes of sentient beings, the distinction of obtaining the most supremely cool object, the distinction of having power over sentient beings, and the distinction of suffering not arising again. To completely abandon these disputes, use examples.

It should be understood in this way. Among them, in order to completely abandon the difference of the manifestation of the roots of virtue of liberation, there are two metaphors, namely the great ocean and the small drop. This is because of the conforming Dharma that is close to and not close to many sentient beings. In order to completely abandon the difference of the manifestation of wisdom, there are two metaphors. The wisdom of the Bodhisattva is the antidote that obscures the causes of infinite sentient beings, both self and others. In order to completely abandon the difference of the crown of liberation, there are two metaphors. Among them, like a noble consort, it should be understood as liberation. Like a poor man, it is the aspiration of the Hearer Vehicle. Like a maidservant, it is observing sentient beings. Like a king, it is the aspiration of the Great Vehicle. In order to completely abandon the difference of defeating demons and heretics, there are a thousand metaphors with the characteristics of a Chakravartin. This is because they do not accept being sons of the Tathagata. In order to completely abandon the difference of the non-learning state, a youth with the characteristics of a Chakravartin enters the womb of the noble consort, which is the second metaphor of the Chakravartin. In order to maintain the lineage of the Buddha, in order to completely abandon the difference of being worthy of offering, the noble consort gives birth to a youth with auspicious signs, which is the third metaphor of the Chakravartin. This is because it correctly holds the cause of omniscience. In order to completely abandon the difference of being considered the most excellent of the Sangha, there is the metaphor of the jewel Vaidūrya. This is because the Bodhicitta of the first ground has been fully attained. In order to completely abandon the difference of being considered the most excellent of Dharma speakers, there is the metaphor of medicine. This is because it pacifies the disease of the afflictions of all sentient beings. In order to completely abandon the difference of being considered the most excellent of sentient beings, the mandala of the moon is released, and there is the metaphor of "whoever". This is because it makes the light of wisdom for all sentient beings. In order to completely abandon the difference of the most cooling object, there is the metaphor of the waxing moon. This is in order to perfectly accomplish the accumulations of merit and wisdom for attaining Buddhahood. For sentient beings
