Thus, regarding that, it is said, "Awareness and non-awareness are not two," and so on. Similarly, actions and non-actions, consciousness and the cessation of consciousness, up to old age and death and the cessation of old age and death, those two are not two. Here, without observing distinctions, this is the nature that is completely conceived by children, that is, cessation and birth, obtained in all births, not observing as two, that is, what is said as the two being inseparable. Here, this is the supreme understanding of knowledge: Light Protector, here, whatever is knowledge is the correct and individual understanding of the Dharma of the Middle Way, this is what is called. Without attending to the characteristics of that and its place, by joining without speaking, individually realizing the Dharma of one's own wisdom as selfless, thus it shows the realization of Dharma. How does the realization of Dharma dedicate to the great Bodhi? Light Protector, furthermore, the correct and individual understanding of the Dharma of the Middle Way is that by which emptiness does not empty the Dharmas,

It is not with afflictions, and it manifests correctly without suffering. Thus, entering in that way shows that the mind is not seized by both afflictions and suffering. If asked, how does it show the difference? It shows through four aspects: completely showing the difference of view, completely showing the difference of the noble ones from afar, completely showing the difference of abandoning perversions, and completely showing the difference of mind perversions. This difference of view is that, because it is for establishing Odsrungs (འོད་སྲུངས།), it is said that it is not emptiness. Merely seeing no self is not emptiness, that is its definition. Why? Because non-self abides in the self of a person, but the non-self of phenomena is not seen, and there is no extensive examination of what is grasped as becoming conditioned phenomena, and the grasping of knowing the non-self belonging to samsara, being separated from the nature of terminology, being encompassed by emptiness, not fully examining the times of past, future, and present, because there is no thorough examination of what is to be known, the one with the nature of phenomena becomes the pride that Nirvana will appear to be cut off in the future. The so-called emptiness is because of clinging to the self of phenomena that is labeled as completely imputed, so the dharma that follows emptiness is not the emptiness of ultimate truth, because the clinging to the self of a person was not abandoned before, and later the clinging to the self of phenomena arose, therefore this scripture is damaged, extremely damaged, the Bodhisattva is not like that. Therefore, in order to particularly practice the Bodhisattva path, in order to thoroughly show the non-self of phenomena, the Bhagavan said: Odsrungs (འོད་སྲུངས།), one should follow emptiness, not follow the self of a person. In this way, the difference of view is shown. Among them, from afar, this lowness is that those who abide in the non-self of a person become even lower than the lowness of each ordinary person clinging to the self, because of the two situations of being liberated from suffering and dwelling with suffering. This is one reason, Odsrungs (འོད་སྲུངས།), those who abide in the view of the self of a person are as high as Mount Sumeru, while those with pride think that emptiness is like that.

It is not. What is the reason for that? Because what arises from all views is that in emptiness, if someone clings to emptiness, I would not say that is incurable. This statement indicates this meaning. Clinging to the view of a person as high as Mount Sumeru is because clinging to the view of a person has an antidote, so it can be abandoned. A person with arrogance who thinks he has realized emptiness is not a true view. This is because although they have seen the absence of self in phenomena, they think they have realized emptiness, thereby regarding all actions as empty, which should be understood as a kind of arrogance. If someone clings to emptiness with the nature of complete imputation, thinking that emptiness is also empty, clinging to emptiness with an inexpressible nature, this is a completely inverted and confused state. Clinging to emptiness with a clinging view is not a true view of emptiness. If someone has not realized emptiness, it should be known that it is incurable. Because it is incurable, one cannot be completely liberated from the suffering of birth and so on. Because one is always accompanied by the suffering of afflictions, one remains with suffering, just like an incurable patient. Destruction in two ways, earlier and later, is a dual cause. Light Guardian, for example, a sick man, if the doctor gives him medicine. This metaphor illustrates this principle. It is like a patient who does not act according to the Dharma, behaving improperly, the disease will not disappear. Because it arises from the cause associated with the disease, one will experience two kinds of feelings, earlier and later. Similarly, if someone diligently practices the absence of self in a person, but has not abandoned self-grasping, they will develop a clinging to emptiness as a phenomenon, thereby being accompanied by the disease of afflictions. Due to the two kinds of grasping, earlier and later, one will become very weak. A Bodhisattva is not like that, this is a distant and inferior difference. Regarding this confused difference of abandonment, Light Guardian, for example, some people are afraid of the sky, this is widely proclaimed. For example, some people attach some kind of imputation to the sky that arises from their own conceptual thoughts. After clinging, they become frightened by it, saying: Burn this sky.
