In order not to fall completely, it is also like the afflictions of giving poison. Although it is so, if it is like giving poison, it is only without harm, and it will not become merit for anyone, that is not the case. The Bodhisattva, with his own afflictions, in order to benefit all sentient beings, is also like the afflictions of the feces of a big city. Thus, the Bodhisattva is like the example of the merits of worldly famous things, and with the merits being particularly superior, it is unparalleled merit. Therefore, it should be known that the Bodhisattva is unparalleled merit. The various classifications of true accomplishment and the differences in merit have been explained. The nature of true accomplishment has not yet been explained. That is shown by the Middle Way, because it completely abandons the two extremes, it should be known as the Middle Way. What are the extremes? The extreme of the non-Buddhists is to cling to self, and to cling to it as permanent, adding to the aggregates, realms, and sources. That is from below, briefly, permanent, called one extreme, self, called one extreme, thus it appears. The extreme of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas is to cling to the aggregates, etc., as impermanent, and to cling to no-self. That is also from below, briefly, impermanent, called two extremes, no-self, called two extremes, thus it appears. What is in the middle of those two extremes? That is called non-discriminating wisdom, because it is non-discriminating, so it is inconceivable. Because it is unspeakable and unexplainable, it is unteachable. Because it is not the place of consciousness, it is not a support. Because there is no object in the sense of the object, it is without appearance. Because in the sense of the subject it is only consciousness, it is unobtainable. Because it does not abide in samsara and nirvana, it should be known as having no abode. To this, the non-Buddhists add, and for the antidote to clinging to self, they have spoken of individually observing no-self, etc. After adding, for the antidote to clinging to permanence, they have spoken of not clinging to form as permanent, nor clinging to it as impermanent, etc.
