Because it is a place of diligent practice, it is not disturbed by all things that do benefit and harm, therefore it is the same as the mind. Although this is so, it is not like sentient beings who rely on abandoned land and live there by their own ability. Bodhisattvas, in order to generate roots of virtue, are moistened by the moisture of faith and joy, therefore they are like water. Although this is so, it is not like water that contradicts the complete ripening of crops. In order to fully ripen the roots of virtue, he will protect those repulsive dharmas and universally burn them, therefore he is also like fire. Although this is so, it is not like fire that contradicts the accomplishment of the Buddha's pure land. In order to make the fully ripened roots of virtue touch liberation, he diligently accomplishes liberation and draws near to the true teachings, therefore he is also like wind. Although this is so, it is not like the wind that blows violently and then disappears. In order to increase his own virtuous dharmas, he is also like the moon. Although this is so, it is not like the moon that appears in the waxing phase and does not appear in the waning phase. The Bodhisattva, with universal characteristics, makes wisdom illuminate all dharmas of the white and black aspects, therefore he is also like the sun. Although this is so, it is not like the sun that is completely changed by being frightened by Rahu. The Bodhisattva is not changed by being frightened by the stars of all afflictions in beings, therefore he is also like a lion. Although this is so, it is not like a lion that is troubled by huge maggots. In order to bear all the burdens of suffering, he is also like a tamed elephant. Although this is so, it is not like an elephant that is bound by gain and non-gain, gentle and harsh pleasure, and pain, and is stained by attachment and anger. The Bodhisattva is not bound by all worldly dharmas, nor is he stained by all anger, therefore he is like a lotus.

Although it is so, It is not like a lotus; if the stem is cut, it will not grow again. That Bodhisattva is not like that. Although the Bodhisattva has cut off afflictions, he will be born again in samsara because he has increased the power of the roots of virtue, so he is not like a tree whose roots have decayed. Although it is so, it is not like a tree whose roots are finally destroyed. The Bodhisattva is like a stream flowing into the ocean in order to be liberated from suffering and to completely abandon the roots of virtue in the great Bodhi. Although it is so, it is not like a stream flowing into the ocean, and the ocean itself will change. The Bodhisattva, in order to be liberated from suffering and to rely on the great Bodhi, delights in all kinds of virtuous roots, like a god dwelling on Mount Sumeru. Although it is so, it is not like the gods dwelling on Mount Sumeru, who are carelessly happy in their own affairs. The Bodhisattva is completely possessed of skillful means and wisdom, and in order to accomplish all the deeds of the Buddha, he is like a king who is completely possessed of ministers. Although it is so, it is not like a king who is completely possessed of ministers who completely protects the people for his own benefit. He does not consider his own interests, but for the sake of the people, he is like a jewel. Although it is so, it is not like a great cloud that is not certain to completely accomplish crops. The Bodhisattva is like a wheel-turning king appearing because he has extremely created the Dharma of the Bodhi aspect. Although it is so, it is not like a wheel-turning king who is unparalleled with great men. The Bodhisattva is like a jewel, a karshapana, which is very different from others, because he appears together with many common liberations. Although the Bodhisattva has entered the uncontaminated realm, he is like a god entering a mixed garden because his actions and enjoyment of happiness are the same as theirs. Although it is so, it is not like the gods who enter the mixed garden, whose afflictions increase and who will fall back in the future. The Bodhisattva is afflicted
