It is not permissible, because it holds its own nature. It changes in this way: because of the nature of wisdom, knowing is an aspect, and wisdom thoroughly knows its own nature as impermanent, etc. Cognition is the nature of distinguishing individual things separately. Because it performs the meaning of cognition, if it is said that there is no difference from cognition, that is correct. Why? Because it holds its own nature. If, because it is the nature of thorough knowing, the object of wisdom is the general nature, then it is not reasonable for it to hold its own nature. If it also holds its own nature, then because it has not abandoned its own nature, it becomes the nature of distinguishing things, and it will become the fault of being no different from cognition. If it is said that it also follows cognition, it is also not permissible, because it is contradictory. It changes in this way: wisdom is the cause that arises together with cognition, and that is the realm of objects. Because it follows it, it is also unreasonable to say that wisdom holds its own nature as impermanent, etc. Why? Because it is contradictory. Because one's own nature and the general nature do not match, the nature of form is impermanence itself. If the nature of form is impermanence itself, then it is impossible for wisdom to hold it, therefore wisdom does not hold its own nature. Cognition also follows wisdom and becomes its nature, and because it is the ultimate object, it will become the fault of abandoning its own nature. Therefore, it is impossible for one's own nature to become the object of wisdom, or for the ultimate to become the object of cognition. It is said: Alas! Does attachment to emptiness harm faith in the aspects of karma? Therefore, is it said that faith arises in the ripening of karma? It is said: There is no fault in proclaiming each separately with existence. Here, after wisdom has thoroughly broken down the formations, not observing sentient beings means that the formations have no self-nature, and after realizing that they are immovable, not being skilled in this dependent arising means that if the formations have no abiding place and are unwavering, then what is the agent? Connected with the fruit.

That is, in what is everything completely deluded. Because of being completely deluded, one does not believe in the ripening of karma. The Blessed One also said: Kashyapa, one who abides in the view of self is slightly superior, but one who is arrogant and views emptiness is not a god. Thus it is said: The view of emptiness is the source of all, spoken by the victorious ones. Those who view emptiness are said to be impossible to accomplish. The fault of viewing emptiness wrongly destroys the inferior-minded. It is like the fault of holding a snake wrongly, and the fault of practicing a mantra wrongly. If the inferior-minded can understand this Dharma, it is extremely difficult to understand. Therefore, the minds of the Buddhas are extremely averse to speaking. Thus it is said. A Bodhisattva who is skilled in conventional and ultimate truth, who distinguishes between actions, is not completely deluded because he fully knows the profound dependent origination, and because he has meditated for a long time, and because he knows very well the nature of conditions. He thinks like this: Thus, because of being dependent on others, actions are not of the nature of accomplishment, and are unwavering. Therefore, those who follow various discriminations, who are skilled in means and who are engaged in actions, when they are engaged in actions, because they are extremely abiding in accomplishment, they gradually attain omniscience. Thus, a Bodhisattva who has faith in manifestation exerts great effort. That which is called forbearance of selflessness, the meaning of forbearance of selflessness, should be explained. It is said: Those who perceive sentient beings, that is, if by the wisdom produced by consciousness, one establishes the object of consciousness, which exists conventionally, then one does not see sentient beings, and thinks like this: This is only Dharma, like an illusion, unwavering, without autonomy, because it is produced by the power of mutual conditions, it is dependent on the tree of karma and afflictions. Like the stream of a lamp flame, it arises like the stream of a similar continuum thrown by past karma. When it arises, it does not come from anywhere, and it ceases.
