This is said to those who believe that the fruit arises from the transformation of the nature of the cause. Just as the seeds of the banyan tree and the like are small, but the trunk, branches, leaves, and so on appear large and numerous, so it is thought that the action of a person is not meaningless because the fruit is manifested greatly from a small seed. It is said that whatever kind of seed is sown, that kind of fruit will manifest, for example, from the seed of rice, only the fruit of rice will arise, and not something else. This also shows that the fruit and the seed have not changed, so the action of a person is meaningful. If there are two causes, then the action of a person is meaningless, either they are the same, or the fruit manifests smaller, or the fruit changes. Therefore, since the fruit is large and the fruit is the same, it is shown that the action of a person is meaningless. The so-called internal dependent origination is also because of two, which shows the nature of arising from many impermanent causes. The so-called "because of ignorance, there are actions," etc., shows the nature of arising from the cause of power. Among them, ignorance also thinks, "I make the actions manifest," and does not think like that, which shows the nature of arising from the cause of no action. The same applies to all causes. The so-called "after gathering" is because the atoms are related to each other. The so-called "drinking" is satisfaction. The so-called "eating" is consuming. The so-called "preparing" is arranging. Here also shows the nature of the action of earth and so on. The realm of consciousness is also formed by aggregation. Here also, the nature of the inner space, light, and darkness is considered to be the realm of space. The so-called making the sprout of name and form manifest can be related to the realm of consciousness. That is, the consciousness that is aggregated into the five aggregates, and the consciousness with defilements, are aggregated into one like a quiver, and called the realm of consciousness, because it is the cause of birth. The five aggregates are with defilements, and are without error.

Therefore, it was not specifically differentiated in that way. Why would one think, regarding earth and so on, "The solidity of our bodies and so on did not previously exist"? In response to that, it was said, "The earth element is not self," and so on. All of "I" and so on are names, considered due to the differences in established tenets. To arrogantly think "I" and "mine" is self. It arises in that very place of going, therefore it is a sentient being. It lives until the end of life, therefore it is life. It arises, therefore it is a producer. It arises from strength, therefore it is born of strength. It is the son of strength, therefore it is the son of strength. Regarding that, the earth element is not self because it is devoid of the pride of "I." It is not a sentient being because it is devoid of the actions of going and so on. It is not life because it is momentary. It is not a producer because it is devoid of the action of producing what is to be produced. It is not born of strength because it arises from karma. It is not a son of strength because it lacks the strength to produce. Woman and man and hermaphrodite, without the self-nature of self and other, therefore it is not woman, not man, not hermaphrodite. Woman and so on are merely considered as distinctions in which earth and so on abide. To say "not I, not mine" is because it is devoid of the consideration of self and what belongs to self. To say "not anyone else's either" is because there is no lord such as Ishvara. Therefore, for all phenomena, since there is no self and what belongs to self, how could there be an agent? That is the thought. If the nature of the object to be fully known previously is indicated, then since its characteristic is not understood, the question is asked, "What is ignorance in relation to that?" Here also, five characteristics are spoken of: the characteristic of itself, the characteristic of the meaning of the word, the characteristic of the connection of the limbs, the characteristic of being free from the two extremes, and the characteristic of gathering causes. If one understands the six different elements as not different, that is understanding as one. If one grasps the body of different particles as one, that is understanding as a whole. Even though each moment changes differently, if one does not grasp it as existing at another time, that is understanding as permanent. Regarding arising from what has not arisen, if one grasps it as arising from the very thing that exists, that is understanding as dependent. After arising
