Or, when seeing distraction, or suspecting distraction, one should bring to mind things like impermanence that cause aversion, thereby pacifying the distraction. After that, one should again strive to abide without intentionally focusing on that very suchness. When one is separated from sinking and distraction, and sees the mind abiding equally, one should relax effort and remain in equanimity. If one were to exert effort on a mind that is already abiding equally, at that time the mind would become distracted. If one does not exert effort on a mind that has become depressed, that sinking will not be pacified. Therefore, that person, like a blind man, will not clearly grasp suchness. Therefore, the sinking mind should be clarified, distraction should be pacified, and having attained equality, one should remain in equanimity. After that, the yogi should abide as long as desired, without intentionally focusing on that very suchness, abiding by the power of faith and understanding. After that, when one wants to rise from samadhi, one should think thus: Although these dharmas have not arisen in the ultimate sense, they arise like illusions, dependent on their respective determined causes and conditions. Therefore, in order to benefit all sentient beings, desiring to attain the state of Buddhahood, I should diligently strive to greatly increase the immeasurable accumulation of merit and wisdom. Thus one should think. After that, one should prostrate to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Having made offerings to them, one should rise, making great aspirations such as the excellent conduct of the noble. For those things like illusions, in order to dedicate them without error to unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, one should diligently strive like a magician in all the accumulation of merit and wisdom, such as generosity, endowed with emptiness and compassion. By acting in this way, one will accomplish the samadhi of emptiness that possesses all perfections. As it says in the Noble Jewel Crest Sutra: He divides the state of great love, and abides in the state of great compassion, and makes samadhi with the samadhi of the direct realization of emptiness that possesses all perfections. What is the emptiness that possesses all perfections? It is generosity and

Without separation, without separation from discipline, without separation from patience, without separation from diligence, without separation from meditation, without separation from wisdom, without separation from skillful means, and so on, as it is said. As it is also said in the teachings of the noble Stainless Fame and others, "Merely showing wisdom devoid of skillful means is a bond for the Bodhisattva." Therefore, Bodhisattvas should always prioritize great compassion and diligently accumulate the collections of merit and wisdom, such as generosity. Thereafter, until the yogi has entered the ground, according to the ritual described above, by the power of faith, while practicing on the ground of faith, only when meditating on that (referring to the ground of faith), it is established as truly connected and as true samadhi. This is to strive diligently in the realm of non-discrimination, but although one has not yet touched the realm of non-discrimination, there is a samadhi that is in accordance with reality and will touch the realm of non-discrimination, which shows that it is in accordance with touching the realm of non-discrimination. Having shown the true connection in this way, one enters the realm of non-discrimination, which shows the eighth summarized meaning, that is, that true connection. In this way, regarding the order of hearing, thinking, and meditating on the true connection, as previously stated, always be respectful, and after practicing for a long time, after countless eons have passed, like fire produced by rubbing wood, the practice of the true meaning will be perfected, and one will be separated from all discriminating thoughts, realizing the realm of phenomena free from elaboration. Extremely clear, without impurity, unwavering, like a lamp flame placed in a windless place, unwavering, becoming a measure, realizing the suchness of all phenomena being without self, truly gathered by the path of seeing, attaining the nature of the ultimate Bodhicitta, entering effortlessly, and generating the supreme transcendental wisdom. At that time, the yogi enters the state of non-discrimination, and also obtains the first ground, which is the general meaning. Finished.
