It is the antidote to ignorance of entering the range. The seventh is that by obtaining the state of dwelling in the absence of characteristics without interruption, it is the antidote to the ignorance of universally applying subtle characteristics. The eighth is that by obtaining the state of spontaneously dwelling in the absence of characteristics, it is the antidote to the ignorance of striving and universally applying the absence of characteristics. The ninth is that by obtaining various kinds of perfect knowledge, it is the antidote to the ignorance of not having the authority to teach the Dharma in all ways. The tenth is that by obtaining mastery over Buddha-fields, retinues, and manifestations, it is the antidote to ignorance of great superknowledge. In short, the Buddha-field is the attainment of wisdom that is unattached and unobstructed to all dharmas in all ways, and it is the antidote to the ignorance of penetrating all objects of knowledge with subtle wisdom. What is meant by "practicing merits"? As it is said: A Bodhisattva who dwells on the first bhumi obtains a hundred samadhis in an instant, a moment, a short time, sees the Buddhas, truly knows their blessings, can shake a hundred worlds, can go to a hundred Buddha-fields, can manifest a hundred worlds, can ripen a hundred sentient beings, can abide for a hundred kalpas, can enter a hundred kalpas of the past and future, can open a hundred Dharma doors, can show a hundred bodies, and on each body can show a hundred hundred Bodhisattva retinues, such is the diligence. On the second bhumi, all these numbers are multiplied by a thousand. On the third bhumi, the number is a hundred thousand. On the fourth bhumi, the number is a hundred billion. On the fifth bhumi, the number is a thousand billion. On the sixth bhumi, the number is a hundred thousand billion. On the seventh bhumi, the number is a trillion billion. On the eighth bhumi, the number is equal to the number of dust particles in ten million trillion three-thousand great-thousand worlds. On the ninth bhumi, the number is equal to the number of dust particles in ten million trillion countless Buddha-fields. On the tenth bhumi, the number is equal to the number of dust particles in ten million trillion inexpressible billions of Buddha-fields. The Buddha's

As it is said, through this (Buddha's wisdom), he fully knows all that belongs to the world realm, and all the particles of the finest particles in the boundless sky. He knows all the forms of all things belonging to all directions and times. The merits of the Buddha and so on are immeasurable, and this should be understood from the Sutra Pitaka. The so-called analysis of the essence is also permissible, because he is the supreme of all worldly and transcendental dharmas, and is the cause of accomplishing the perfection of self and other's benefit. The so-called complete abandonment by non-attention means abandoning those who are attached to things as real, because all dharmas are unborn in the ultimate sense, and are of one taste. Thus it is said: The Tathagata is always the unborn Dharma, all Dharmas are also like the departed. The childish mind grasps at characteristics, and in the world practices on non-existent dharmas. Thus it is said, therefore, all characteristics should be completely abandoned by non-attention. The so-called being extremely diligent is because one has truly entered the path of entering the non-conceptual realm. Thus, the yogi, by the power of aspiration and wisdom, abandons the discrimination of existence and so on, abandons all the nets of characteristics, and with a non-discriminating, analysis-free, unspeakable, one-taste mind, with faith in suchness, without making an effort, cultivates and abides in extreme clarity. The continuum of mind abiding in this should not be distracted. When it becomes distracted in the middle, it should be pacified, and then the mind should be completely placed in it again. When it is seen that the mind is not happy with it, one should cultivate joy in it by seeing the merits of samadhi, and by seeing the faults of distraction, unhappiness will be pacified. If, due to the influence of drowsiness and so on, the appearance is not clear, and when the mind is seen to be unhappy due to sinking, one should pacify the sinking by attending to objects that are extremely joyful, and then again hold the suchness extremely clearly. If, when remembering previously experienced lovely objects and so on, the mind in the middle
