I, the cause of Īśvara and severe asceticism, refer to those three forms. By combining the words "nature, Īśvara, and severe asceticism," it is thought that only these are the cause of liberation, and not others. Among these, nature is the essence of the three guṇas (गुण, guṇa, quality), namely the nature of sattva (सत्त्व, sattva, beingness), rajas (रजस्, rajas, passion), and tamas (तमस्, tamas, darkness). It is thought that this itself is the cause of liberation. As it is said, by knowing the difference between nature and puruṣa (पुरुष, puruṣa, person), one will be liberated. Nature abides in the essence of nature, and puruṣa (पुरुष, puruṣa, person) abides in the essence of puruṣa (पुरुष, puruṣa, person), and by knowing that these two are not the same, one will be liberated. As an antidote to this, it is thought that liberation is conceived as arising and occurring closely in two ways from the limbs of existence. Such liberation is not the characteristic of liberation. In this way, liberation is not manifestly assembled by causes and conditions, therefore it is the characteristic of the unconditioned. "Ignorance as a condition for actions" means that actions arise from causes and conditions, but not liberation, which is its definition. Furthermore, being associated with the arising of all afflictions is all association. For example, having died and transmigrated from the realm of the unconscious, one arises here again through the means of universally experiencing afflictions. As an antidote to this, the characteristic of being free from all afflictions is taught. "Ignorance as a condition for actions" refers to being associated with birth. The formless existence that conforms to the law of existence is because they are all elements and all forms transformed from the elements, all are pacified, therefore it is thought that formlessness is liberation. As an antidote to this, the characteristic of transcending the world is taught. Because formless existence is only worldly, "ignorance as a condition for actions" is considered to arise in the law of existence. Therefore, the complete examination of all aspects is nine aspects. If asked what the nine aspects are like, it is that through the connection of the limbs of existence, all afflictions and purification are thoroughly distinguished.

Thus, observing, all the arising of bondage in the world arises from the manifestation of self-grasping, and so on. By the gate of uniting perfectly in one mind, the basis is fully examined, that is, he thinks thus: this triple world is only mind, and all the limbs of existence that the Thus-Gone One has well distinguished and taught all abide in one mind, and so on. By the gate of not mixing one's own actions, the means are fully examined, that is, in that, ignorance abides closely in two things, and so on. By the gate of non-difference, the characteristics of conditions are fully examined, that is, in that, with ignorance as a condition, there are formations, and so on, that is, with ignorance as a condition, the formations are continuous and rely on it, and so on. Because of being unmoving, it is said that the limbs of existence depend on conditions for arising. By the gate of following the three times, the entry into truth is fully examined, that is, in that, ignorance, craving, and grasping are the unbroken continuity of the path of affliction, and so on. Among these three paths, those that have become the result are the truth of suffering. Those that have become the cause are the truth of origin. In another way, the paths of affliction and action are the truth of origin. The path of suffering is the truth of suffering. By the gate of fully examining the past extreme, etc., the entry into the place of ability and inability is fully examined, that is, with ignorance as a condition, there are formations, and so on, which is based on the past extreme, and so on. By the gate of the universal arising of suffering, the entry of those with and without manifest pride is fully examined, that is, because suffering itself cannot fully know the subtle parts, and because of fully knowing and generating manifest pride. Also, because of the cause of those twelve limbs of existence, three kinds of suffering arise, and so on.
