It arises only from its own cause, and it is not desired to arise from other causes. Ignorance and actions are also close to the past extreme, because the cause is close, the result will only arise all at once. If there is a self, then this fault will not occur, because I am the basis of enjoyment, and should be completely grasped, so it will not be too extreme. Similarly, not having an agent of action is the second fault, for the agent of action, the agent of all actions is myself. The actions are mine, therefore only I can enjoy the results, and others cannot, the lack of this is a fault. Here it is said that there is no accomplisher, if there is an author, it will become my actions, if there is not, it will not become my actions. The fault of exhausting actions is the third. Exhaustion is destruction, and that itself is a fault. Here it is said that the accomplisher ceases before the fruit is born. If there is no self, then the actions called body, speech, and mind, are destroyed immediately after they arise, so they will not exist when the fruit arises. If there is a self, then this fault will not occur, like this, even if good or non-good has ceased, because I and Dharma and non-Dharma will be harmed, so there will be no fault. Therefore, these have spoken of the fault of not doing and encountering, and the fault of doing but exhausting. Wanting to say that all three faults have been completely abandoned, temporarily use "past extreme" etc. as a basis to confuse, use the word "etc." to completely cover the middle and future extremes of the extreme. Use the words "arising and experiencing" etc. to completely cover not experiencing etc. What was done previously for this life is the dependence on the past extreme. What is done for this life, how can it be the past extreme? In order to completely eliminate this dispute, it is said "what is happening now" etc., meaning past, middle, and future.
