Do. Those are called sinful, unwholesome dharmas. By proper attention, not allowing those that have not arisen to arise, not opening the opportunity for them to arise, this is the first right abandonment. The remainder should be understood from this alone. The so-called possessing the effort of abandonment with desire samadhi, etc., desire is the very intention to act. Samadhi is the very one-pointedness of mind. The samadhi accomplished by the power of desire is desire samadhi. Because of abandoning afflictions by it, it possesses that effort. What is this called the foot of miraculous power? The foot of miraculous power is a synonym for limb. The so-called meditating on it is a synonym for becoming accustomed to it. The so-called dwelling in solitude is because of possessing the first dhyana, because of being separated from desire and sinful unwholesomeness. Dwelling in detachment from desire is because of possessing the second dhyana. Because of being separated from thought and analysis, the second is called detachment because it is detachment from desire. Dwelling in cessation is because of possessing the third dhyana. Because it is separated from the desire for joy, it is called cessation because it is detachment from desire. Because of possessing the fourth dhyana and so on. Abandoning what has already been abandoned with wisdom going before. The so-called abandoning what has already been abandoned with wisdom going before is a synonym for abandoning pleasure, suffering, and displeasure in the fourth dhyana. Abandoning those is also because they are not associated with it. For others, it should be spoken of accordingly as well. Faith is whatever is the pleasing of the mind. Because it has power, it is power. Or because it has power, it is power. Power itself is an organ, a synonym for possessing mastery and obtaining mastery. In this, with faith, one believes in all the Buddha's teachings. With diligence, one accomplishes. With mindfulness, one does not forget. With samadhi, one becomes one-pointed. With wisdom, one individually understands. Thus, these are organs because they are able to perform their own functions.

Those who possess sharp faculties are called "powers" because they are not deceived by all demons and extreme opponents. Therefore, it is taught to cultivate the power of faith, and so on. Because of purity, it is the path. Alternatively, this is the path by which one becomes pure, or if this exists, it is the method for completely purifying the mind. Moreover, since it is the eightfold path of cultivation, it is for this reason that the cultivation of right view, and so on, is taught. This noble eightfold path is encompassed by three virtues and three aggregates. The three virtues are the roots of goodness, such as non-attachment. The three aggregates are concentration, and so on. Among these, non-attachment is the mind's manifest attachment to the three realms. What is the root of this? The virtuous actions of body, speech, and mind that arise from it, as well as the roots of the three limbs of the path: right thought, right effort, and right concentration. These are called the aggregate of concentration. Non-hatred is the absence of harm to beings and phenomena. What is the root of this? The virtuous actions of body, speech, and mind, the roots of right speech, right action, and right livelihood. These are called the aggregate of morality. Non-ignorance is the seeing and knowing of the four noble truths as they truly are. From non-ignorance arise the virtuous actions of body, speech, and mind, and the roots of the two limbs of the path: right view and right mindfulness. When cultivating the noble eightfold path, one is completely cultivating the body, because one has cultivated the two limbs: right action and right effort. The so-called cultivation of morality is because one has cultivated right speech and right livelihood. The so-called cultivation of mind is because one has cultivated right thought and right concentration. The so-called cultivation of wisdom is because one has cultivated right view and right mindfulness. Among these, with the aggregate of morality and the aggregate of concentration, one can quickly attain realization.

And, realization becomes pure. With the aggregate of wisdom, one will realize the great, realize the vast, and realize completely. Thus, when practicing the Noble Eightfold Path, one will attain five kinds of realization. Thus, one should know that practicing in accordance with the aspects of enlightenment possesses four qualities such as solitude. The result is expressed in two ways: the nature of abandoning the defilements of afflictions, and the nature of abandoning the defilements of karma. The so-called 'by the power of that means' refers to relying on the means for purifying the Buddha-field and for directly realizing the Buddhadharma. The statement 'practicing without being content with the ground' encompasses up to the seventh ground, and it is shown by merely seeking ever more superior dharmas. The irreversible ground is the eighth, because one attains the profound liberation of the Buddhadharma there. The practice of fully ripening sentient beings indicates the ninth and tenth grounds, because these two grounds are attained through great skillful means, correctly knowing the distinctions of each, and understanding all secrets. Complete grasping is combined with three aspects. How so? Therefore, it is said: Because of individual discrimination, they are those who grasp at permanence. Because of acknowledging as self, they are those who grasp at self. Because of grasping as wealth, they are those who grasp at wealth. Faults are the place of reliance. Respect for the teacher is because the Buddha himself condemns the prohibited actions. Fear of faults is because the naturally faulty actions are associated with defilements. These two only show what is not to be done. What is appropriate to do is also shown by two causes: the teacher's praise and harmony with the Sangha. The gentle mind itself is also due to three causes, and so on. The distinction of dwelling in comfort is what is said to be the gentle mind. The distinction of mastery over samadhi is what is said to be the workable mind. The distinction of the antidote for eliminating faults is benefit and happi-
