That which is known as it truly is, is distinguished by that which is purified through reliance on pure samadhi. It is not to be understood that whatever is retained through hearing is based on pure samadhi. For that, the basis of hearing is hearing, but it is the attainment of its basis. It should be understood that knowing purely as it truly is, is based on that. In the analysis of the ten realms, it is said that there are ten appearances in relation to the Dharma. It is also what causes the complete increase and growth of all sentient beings' realms. There are two kinds of increase: the increase of purity and the increase of cultivating antidotes. Among these, the increase of cultivating antidotes is: the result is such, and the other six kinds will be thoroughly distinguished below. The result of this is the characteristic of abandoning afflictions and the all-pervading afflictions of karma. The result is explained in two ways. The other four kinds. Thus, in brief, the radiant one should be known to be established in four ways. It is said that the appearance of Dharma subdues with ten entries. Here, this appearance is the wisdom of realization, because it makes manifest the Dharmas taught by the Tathagata belonging to that ground. Because that appearance enters into the Dharmas, it obtains the name "wisdom of entering through the appearance of Dharma." In terms of the wisdom of realization belonging to that, it enters into those categories of Dharma of the Sutra Pitaka that are explained. How so? Because it realizes them and what is similar to them. The meaning of this is that it previously realized the meaning of those categories of Dharma through the door of scripture. It obtains the realization of that, and then a very firm faith arises in the meanings spoken by the Tathagata. Just as my realization correctly realizes these meanings, so too has the Bhagavan spoken. Therefore, because he speaks of things as they are, he is said to be the Tathagata. Thus, one realizes that scripture and realization both equally show the ultimate reality without error. Therefore, the Dharmas of scripture and both realization, how the knowable
