They are accomplishment and attainment. Because of having faith, one becomes extremely trusting, and because of having desire, one strives for it. In order to accomplish all virtuous dharmas, these two are the preliminaries to the arising of all virtuous roots, so they are the four grounds. Precisely because of this, it will be said below that diligence is the cause of initiation. Its purity is the purity of the basis. Even when abiding on the first ground, there is still a portion that is somewhat free from defilement. In order to distinguish this, the sutra says, "In order to cultivate the superior intention extremely and completely," therefore the word "extremely" is mentioned. The commentary also mentions "the perfection of the Bodhisattva." The continuum is purified by being completely ripened. Here, "accumulation" refers to the accumulation of merit. The accumulation of wisdom has already been explained in the purity of wisdom. Precisely because of this, it is the cause of not being wasted. This will be explained as "This is the cause of obtaining great prosperity," because wisdom has the realm of the dharmadhatu as its object, and since it is not different from it, everything is manifest and not wasted. Merit, in a way that is not common to the Hearers and others, obtains excellent prosperity. All the secret dharmas of the Tathagatas are taught, that is, the secrets themselves are the dharmas. Moreover, because the object is limitless, it is limitless. That non-forgetting mindfulness is holding, this is where the container and basis of mindfulness rely. Mentioning secrets is just an example, this is to illustrate that after hearing the immeasurable dharmas taught by the Buddhas, one is able to remember and hold them, therefore it is called the purity of completely holding what is heard. What is the manifestation of wisdom called "manifest wisdom of light"? If it is said that manifest wisdom is intention, etc., the answer is that it is because it completely distinguishes them. This is mostly explained from the perspective of analogy, for example, the manifest wisdom of magical power is completely distinguished by the intention of lightness. The divine ear and the divine eye are completely distinguished by the intention of sound and appearance. Because of being very thorough, it is being good at understanding. The doors of the dharanis are the letters, they are the means of entering them.

Because it is the ground. The letters, those without difference, are because there is no contradiction between earlier and later. In order to know the ultimate truth, whatever instructions there are, are not deceptive, because one will realize it. Precisely because of that, because by realizing it, all pride is abandoned, therefore it is called utterly pure, without manifest pride. In the Sutra, it is taught: because it is well sealed with the seal called the Dharmadhatu. How is it? Because it is the most excellent of all dharmas, therefore the ultimate truth is the Dharmadhatu. The consciousness that has it as its object is the consciousness of the ultimate truth and the consciousness of the Dharmadhatu. What is the seal for that? It is the three characteristics, the three general characteristics. Furthermore, it is well sealed by the characteristics of entering into the Vinaya, the Abhidharma, and the Sutras. What is that? It is the instruction, drawn from within the words, and precisely because of that, it is not deceptive. Or, the instruction itself is the seal, because it instructs according to what is certain for oneself. It should be understood that the non-deceptive nature is because those who are instructed will realize it. Because there is also the power of samadhi and the power of miracles, it is specifically distinguished as the power of miracles. In the stage of the path of seeing, whatever Bodhicitta arises that is ultimate, because it abides in the consciousness of the ultimate truth, it is extremely certain without doubt. The abiding nature is by those who are co-emergent, similar, and endowed. That Bodhicitta-arising one has entered the first bhumi. Because it is the seed that becomes the cause of the arising of the great dharmas of the Buddha, it is the realm of the meaning of cause. Precisely because of that, it increases. Furthermore, that which is called 'again' is another explanation. In the place called the Dharmadhatu as great, the word 'la' indicates the object and the subject's entities. Previously, it was a collection of distinctions, the arising of Bodhicitta itself is the reason for the arising of defiled and undefiled, therefore it is said to be the Dharmadhatu. Now, because one wants to specifically explain, only the undefiled are the Buddha's dharmas, just as it is said to be the one who holds the bow to accomplish existence.

It is like the word "is." The cause of these is the two, the Dharmadhatu and selflessness. The object of these is also called by the same name. It shows the cause of increase, that is, any other knowledge of ordinary beings, etc., that takes suchness as its object. Ordinary beings are complete at the time of hearing. It should be known that the Hearers, etc., take suchness as their object. Because they are the antidote to the two obscurations, etc., they are extremely excellent. It should be understood that the Dharma that corresponds to purity, but not purity itself, is Dharma. Because that is the nature of the Mahayana scriptures, it is Dharma. In terms of lineage, that is the realm, that is, what arises from where, that is its lineage and realm. Therefore, hearing its meaning, and the order of thinking, etc., because of being completely tamed by that Dharma, the generation of Bodhicitta is the place to be tamed. "Because there are victors in this," thus connecting the words. Increase is because of the endless differences of the Sutras, etc., so it is without limit. Also, in the sense of good, it shows as a synonym for merit. Here, the meaning of realm is the meaning of cause. Connecting the words is only what was just said. Increase is because it is accomplished in many eons. This shows that this is produced by the merit accomplished in many eons. Impermanence, conditioned, suffering, pleasant. Accomplishment is the cause of birth itself. It is very certain there, in the Sutra, it is shown by the words "until the end of the space realm." How is it? The teacher said, "Like space." Thus it is shown, that is, just as space, through the door of openness, the many various forms produced by it cannot be exhausted, so too is this Bodhicitta. How is it? Because it is the cause that brings forth the stainless, mirror-like wisdoms, etc., it abides in the nature of a similar cause. And those are also by the power of completely dedicating to the ultimate sentient beings.
