It should be distinguished as it is said. For example, regarding "Thus have I heard" and so on, since one should hear truthfully and without inversion, hearing is the name of this Dharma. Moreover, this is the very nature of the Dharma that teaches the ten Bodhisattva grounds. Its meaning is those very natures of wisdom. To hold it well is to hold it truthfully. It itself is specially arranged, so it is arranged, and it is determined by the supreme wisdom arising from thought. In this way, having taken hold of it oneself, one causes others to hold it, so it should be known that it is called truthful holding, initiating and attaining, because it is proclaimed to those to be tamed. This is also stated in the Sutra: "In order to be skilled in arranging the Bodhisattva grounds as they are." This shows that, as it is proclaimed, it is explained by distinguishing the meaning of the words that are spoken. Therefore, having taken hold of these grounds in this way, and having explained them in detail from the perspective of meaning and words, in order to attain by manifesting these very natures of wisdom, to generate aspiration and desire, it is to initiate and attain aspiration. This is also stated in the Sutra: "One should especially focus on all the Buddha's teachings." What is it like? To especially focus on all the Buddha's teachings, that is, all the uncontaminated grounds, is to manifest aspiration, because it is focused with supreme intention. The meaning of what is said is that, having generated a strong aspiration in this way, one meditates on the appearance of the distinctions of the uncontaminated Dharma, the factors of enlightenment, and so on, as explained in the Ornament of the Sutras. That itself is an aspect, because it is through it that one realizes. At that time, they practice with that aspect, and not just by thinking as before, so by showing the stage of equipoise, it is to initiate and attain application, because that stage is the impeller of realization, so it is application. This is also stated in the Sutra: "It is taught in order to cultivate the uncontaminated Dharma with distinction." That is, the uncontaminated Dharmas arise from thought, and are especially superior to the wisdom of equipoise.
