Everything will exist again. It is called 'taking'. How to take? Because in various different ways, it causes the actions that lead to rebirth to exist. That is to say, for the taking of desires and so on, in various different ways, it causes the actions that lead to rebirth to immediately become the cause of rebirth. Or, desires and so on themselves, as explained in detail, are the desire for objects, as well as views, precepts and asceticism, and the assertion of self. These themselves are stained by craving for feelings, in the way of manifestly clinging to things that possess these and so on, in the sense of manifestly clinging to things that possess pleasant feelings and so on, hence it is called taking. Just like the sense base of form, the words are combined. For example, the giver of generosity, just as it is said here, what is given is generosity. This sutra says that what is given, such as food, is generosity, but not whose generosity it is. The commentators say, in detail, that their taking is another arrangement. Connections that are fully in accordance with desire, bonds, proliferation, near afflictions, and universal auspiciousness, and so on. Among them, connection is attachment, anger, pride, ignorance, views, holding as supreme, doubt, jealousy, and miserliness. Because of the meaning of connecting with afflicted things, or because of the meaning of connecting with various sufferings, it is connection. Among them, the connection of attachment is desire, because it leads beings close to birth and objects. The connection of anger is malice towards beings. The connection of pride is the seven prides, namely pride, great pride, the pride of thinking greater than great, the pride of 'I am', super pride, humble pride, and wrong pride. The connection of ignorance is not knowing. Views

The afflictive attachments are three views: the view of the perishable aggregate, the view of holding to extremes, and the wrong view. The afflictive attachments of holding as supreme are two kinds of holding as supreme: holding views as supreme, and holding discipline and asceticism as supreme. The afflictive attachment of doubt is having two minds about the truth. The afflictive attachment of jealousy is being inwardly disturbed by the excellence of others. The afflictive attachment of miserliness is the mind's attachment to being incompatible with generosity. Therefore, the afflictive attachments of views and the afflictive attachments of holding as supreme are discarded, and the remaining seven are the close grasping of desire. The bonds are three: desire, hatred, and ignorance of the three realms, which are the factors that hinder going to nirvana. Latent tendencies are six in brief: latent tendencies of desire, anger, pride, ignorance, views, and doubt. Among these, the mental dharma arising from a mind with the aspect of attachment is desire. That with the aspect of hostility is anger. That with the aspect of conceit is pride. That with the aspect of unclear sight is ignorance. That with the aspect of correct discrimination is view. That with the aspect of indecision is doubt. Therefore, apart from the latent tendencies of views, other mental dharmas arising from afflictions, defiled by afflictions, and included in the aggregate of formation, are the near afflictions. Those that are spoken of from subtle points and from the basis, such as displeasure, are also included. Pervasive entanglements are eight types: shamelessness, lack of embarrassment, jealousy, miserliness, excitement, regret, lethargy, and sleep. Among these, shamelessness and lack of embarrassment are, with respect to oneself and others, respectively, having no shame for faults. The two, jealousy and miserliness, are as previously stated. Excitement is the mind not being pacified. Regret is remorse in the mind. These are also only afflictive pervasive entanglements, not virtuous ones. Lethargy is the mind being unfit for work. The body being unable to support and the mind being dull is sleep. These are also only afflictive pervasive entanglements.

It is not ambiguous or unspecified. These are called grasping at desire because they are combined into words like the aggregates of form. For example, just as form itself is an aggregate, so it is called the aggregate of form, similarly, that which corresponds completely with desire is grasping, so it is called grasping at desire, because the words are not manifest in between, like the power of oil. What are the four kinds of view-grasping? From the view of self-identity up to the view of holding views as supreme, namely the view of self-identity, the view of extremes, the wrong view, and the view of holding views as supreme, view itself is grasping, so it is view-grasping. What is the grasping at ethics and discipline? In any case, some of them consider ethics to be supreme and attain purification through ethics, etc., these detailed explanations show that clinging to ethics and asceticism is grasping at ethics and discipline. What is the grasping at saying 'I'? In the detailed explanation, if one does not understand the grasping at saying 'I', then how can the grasping that corresponds completely with the saying 'I' of form and formlessness themselves, be the grasping at saying 'I', just as the grasping that corresponds completely with desire is called grasping at desire? Or, are they form and formlessness and the pervasive calculations that correspond completely with them, which are both saying 'I' and grasping? Just as recognizing form and formlessness, and the pervasive calculations that correspond completely with form and formlessness, are called saying 'I'. Do you need to explain a third thing called saying 'I' other than what has already been said? If so, then everyone will think that grasping at desire is also grasping at saying 'I'. Why? For the time being, if one says "These are me," thereby considering form and formlessness to be me, then the desire realm will also be considered to be me. If so, then the grasping that corresponds completely with this will also be grasping at desire.
