If one does not want arising, then how can the assertion of self, the close taking, be accomplished by the cause of craving? If craving arises from the cause of the three feelings, as explained in detail, then, as previously stated, if craving arises from the cause of the three feelings, why is it said that attachment to pleasant feeling increases, while it is not so with painful and neither-painful-nor-pleasant feelings? Even if the cause of craving is all three, the reason why attachment to pleasant feeling is said to increase is because it depends on one's own continuum and is similar to that which is its object, because it is the object and because it is similar to it. The phrase "depending on the pleasant feeling of one's own continuum" means that even if suffering is an object, it does not increase, but for the continuum of others, there is no opportunity to speak. The connection of words is that the cause of happiness, feeling, is the object of this craving, so this is its object. Because it is closely connected with it, it is similar to it. Its object is also this, and similarity is also this, so "its object and similarity" are connected as "its entity." If it is said that mental happiness and so on, which depend on renunciation, will also cease to exist, then the six mental happinesses and six mental unhappinesses, and the six neutral feelings, which depend on renunciation, will cease to exist, because that which is the antidote to existence depends on renunciation. Renunciation should also be understood as being free from desire. "Whether the seed itself is taken out from this place" means that which is the antidote to it is by the path that transcends the world. "It has been suppressed" means by the worldly path. Furthermore, the Bhagavan has made a distinction, namely, that craving arises from the cause of feeling born from the aggregation of ignorance and contact, and similarly, when experiencing pleasant feeling, because the feelings are not understood, etc., the feelings of an Arhat are not born from the aggregation of ignorance and contact, nor are they completely misunderstood.

And it is not a condition for craving either. So, here too, it is said extensively like that, so, in this Sutra of Dependent Arising, also because of the ignorance gathering and arising, craving arises from the feeling born of contact, why is it not specifically stated like that? This is what is to be said. Ignorance is the activity and so on, what is said extensively is that ignorance is the common cause of all activities such as merit, because when the limb of activity is distinguished, this meaning has already been explained, so it is said that ignorance is the condition for craving, the meaning of this sentence has already been explained. It is also explained when distinguishing the limb of activity, how is ignorance the main cause of all activities? Just as the cause of arising of all afflictions is ignorance, similarly, the thoughts that correspond to it are also like that, this principle has also been explained, so there is no need to explain anything from this distinction of craving. Thinking that ignorance is the general cause of craving, so what is said extensively is that it is said because it is thought that ignorance is the general cause of craving. Monks, ignorance is the cause of craving, it is widely explained, because it is the common cause of craving with having and not being separated, etc. Contact is also like that, because it is thought that contact is the general cause of craving, so the six groups of craving are widely explained, because it is their common cause, and it is the common cause of all mental factors. Feeling is a special cause, so it is said that craving arises from feeling. How do you know it is a special cause? Because there is a universally ignorant feeling in all three realms, this is what is said extensively, because it is universally ignorant in the three realms, so it does not fully understand the truths such as the suffering of the three realms. The defiled feelings of the desire realm and the first dhyana, etc., whichever is defiled, will cause the defiled craving to arise universally. Even on one ground, it is like ignorance, what is said extensively is that even on one ground

Just like ignorance, its feeling is happiness, suffering, and neither suffering nor happiness, the difference of neither happiness, each of those feelings also has differences in size, small, medium, and large differences, because the differences in craving universally arise, because the differences in craving such as having and not separating universally arise, and the differences in small, medium, and large craving universally arise, called the cause of the difference in feeling, in order to make craving universally arise, relying on the difference in the feeling of touch such as experiencing happiness, what does this mean? It is called the difference in feeling is the cause. How is it? The touch that experiences happiness, the same as the feeling of happiness, having this touch, in order to make the craving of not separating universally arise, relies on the feeling of happiness, in order to make it arise, because it is its object and the cause of the master. From the feeling of happiness, craving arises, not relying on touch, like this, craving is feeling, not touch. Similarly, the touch that experiences suffering, the same as the feeling of suffering, having this touch, in order to make the craving of not having and separating universally arise, relies on itself, in order to make it arise, because it is its object and the cause of the master. Similarly, the touch that experiences neither suffering nor happiness, the same as it, having this touch, in order to make the craving of manifesting joy in its state universally arise, relies on the feeling of neither suffering nor happiness, or, in order to make the craving of having and not separating with it universally arise, it is the object and the cause of the master of its arising. In order to make the difference of craving of feeling universally arise, it does not rely on touch, like this, craving is feeling, not touch. If the cause is certain here, then it will fall into the fault as stated before, this is saying, monks, ignorance is the cause of craving.
