Therefore, if one diligently accumulates meritorious formations, then that which approaches through merit is this consciousness. Having explained this extensively, it is determined that it is conditioned by formations. Because it is thus proclaimed (in the scriptures). The term "as it is said" is to explain various statements and so forth. The term "virtuous actions in the desire realm are merit" is used, where "virtuous" is mentioned to exclude non-virtue. The term "in the desire realm" is mentioned to exclude those in the form and formless realms, as well as the unpolluted. The term "non-virtue is not merit" exists only in the desire realm and not elsewhere. Therefore, it is not said "in the desire realm." The term "virtuous actions in the form and formless realms are called immovable" is used, where "virtuous" is mentioned to exclude the afflicted and the undeclared. The term "in the form and formless realms" is mentioned to exclude those in the desire realm, as well as the unpolluted. Regarding virtuous actions in the form and formless realms, why are they called "immovable"? Therefore, it is said that movement is shaking, meaning that the nature changes into something else. From the etymology of the word, movement is shaking, and this etymology refers to shaking. Therefore, it is said that it means the nature changes into something else. Because it is the nature of immovability, it is immovable. Dhyana and the formless states cannot shake it, so it is immovable. Because the opposing forces of the lower realms cannot overcome it. The term "opposing forces of the lower realms" refers to the afflictions of the lower realms. Dhyana and the formless states are the antidotes to the afflictions of the lower realms, and the afflictions of the lower realms are the opposing forces, which is established. The term "actions arising there are immovable actions" refers to dhyana and the formless states. Others say, why is the maturation of actions arising from that realm immovable? The extensive explanation says, from that realm, meaning the form and formless realms.

It is the meaning of the so-called "position of the ground." The phrases such as "completely grasped by other causes such as aspiration prayers" explain that the difference in the mindstream is completely grasped by other causes. Some mindstreams do not possess antidotes, while others do possess antidotes. As stated in the sutras such as "Person Without a Share," and "One Liang of Salt," as well as in the Sutra Pitaka called "Ear Kind." Briefly, in the sutra of "Person Without a Share," it says: Bhikshus, here some people have done and accumulated a little bit of meritorious deeds arising from generosity, and also a little bit arising from ethics, but there is none arising from meditation, and this person also sees the person without a share. He thinks: Alas, I am born together with people of little fortune. He then relies on that mind and cultivates it many times. He relies on that mind and cultivates it many times, and then he rises from a low state to a higher state. Not cultivating, not paying attention, is the place of being born together with people of little fortune. Among them, these people are people of little fortune, for example: bad caste, or Chandala caste, or the caste of chariot makers. In addition, they are born together with castes that are inferior, degraded, lower, bad, do small things, and have no food or drink. These are from the sutra of people of little fortune. In the sutra of people with a share, it also says: Bhikshus, here some people have done and accumulated a little bit of meritorious deeds arising from generosity, and also a little bit arising from ethics, but there is none arising from meditation, and this person also sees the person with a share. He thinks: Alas, I am born together with people with a share. He then relies on that mind and cultivates it many times. He relies on that mind and cultivates it many times, and then he rises from a low state, even an extremely low state, to an extremely high state. Cultivating extremely immeasurably and cultivating many times is the place of being born together with people with a share. Among them, these people are people with a share, for example: the royal caste, like a great Sala tree, or a Brahmin.
