The virtuous actions associated with defilements are eliminated. Those are because of the manifest existence of rebirth, therefore, the body and so on, which are the meaning of manifest existence of rebirth, do not obtain the term "formation." What is it then? It is by the meaning of manifestly accumulated. Whatever is the distinction of the actions of body, speech, and mind, here it refers to the formations of body and so on. The in-and-out breathing is not, how does this manifest? Therefore, the Sutra and reasoning say so. Briefly, as in the Sutra like "Ratnakuta Sutra", the extensive part spoken by the Blessed One, there it says that the condition of ignorance is formation, which is merit, non-merit, and immovable. It is not considered that in-and-out breathing is merit, non-merit, and immovable, because it is the nature of the great elements. The great elements are also not obscured by tenets, and it appears that they are not indicated in the scriptures. Then, how do conceptualization, analysis, and consciousnesses prevent them from not being the nature of merit, non-merit, and immovable? This prevention itself is. How is it? The distinction of the body's action is indicated as the term for the body's formation, by saying that it is the meaning of manifesting rebirth, therefore, the two in-and-out breathings are prevented from being the body's formation of merit, non-merit, and immovable, so this is established. Mind is also mainly manifesting existence. The terms for the formations of speech and mind must be determined to indicate the actions of speech and mind, not conceptualization, analysis, and consciousness. Furthermore, as said in that Sutra like "Ratnakuta Sutra", if the formation of merit manifestly accumulates, there the extensive part also says that the condition of ignorance and the condition of formation is consciousness, what approaches with merit is this consciousness. Similarly, it is also said to approach between immovable actions. How does that transform? Here, the condition of formation is consciousness.

It is also said that "it is known," and it is explained extensively. Here, "this" refers to the Sutra of Dependent Arising. Therefore, what is called "approaching by action" is said to be consciousness there. That is to say, here it is the cause of action, and it must be understood with certainty. So, what do those say? That is, it is shown from there that meritorious and non-meritorious actions, etc., approach. Here it is also established that it is the cause of meritorious and non-meritorious actions, etc. It is not considered that breathing in and out is meritorious and non-meritorious, as well as immovable action. Here, the sound of bodily actions, etc., does not refer to breathing in and out, etc. What is the meaning of "approaching by merit"? Approaching by making it approach. Therefore, whoever approaches another by meritorious action, that is approaching by merit. Similarly, it should also be said that approaching by non-merit and approaching by immovability. It is also said that "the action of the body with harm is fabricated," and it is explained extensively. The so-called "not the cause of breathing in and out" is because it is not shown in the scripture that does not obscure the great elements alone. For the time being, it is like that in the Sutra, what is it? Breathing in and out, etc., are not shown here by the sound of bodily actions, etc. The so-called "an Arhat will not have" is because ignorance is completely abandoned. Because there is no cause for breathing in and out. If it is also said that "by that cause it is the consciousness of future existence," it means that by the cause of breathing in and out it is the one of future existence, the so-called one of future existence refers to the synonym of making future existence manifest and accomplished. The so-called "an Arhat will also have" is because he also has breathing in and out. That is not desirable. Why? For example, there is no breathing in and out, or of future existence.

It is not desired to have consciousness. Those that even Arhats do not have, being called 'person,' are those actions of body, etc. Breathing in and out, etc., also transform in the same way, although it has become the condition of ignorance, ignorance has also been abandoned. Those are not actions of body, etc. Also, because they do not manifestly produce existence, it is said that those are not actions of an Arhat. Here, merely the actions of body, etc., are not indicated by the term 'produced by the condition of ignorance.' What then? It is manifestly producing existence. Therefore, the actions of body, etc., of an Arhat do not obtain the name 'production' by this meaning, but it is reasonable to say that it is merely because of the presence of ignorance. What is it that is not like that, such as breathing in and out? The body, etc., of an Arhat has obtained the name 'production.' Why? Because the meaning of the body being manifestly assembled is the production of the body, as shown in that Sutra Pitaka, and it is the same for an Arhat. The meaning of speech being manifestly produced is the production of speech, and it is the same for an Arhat, discrimination and analysis are the manifest production of speech. The meaning of mind manifestly producing is the production of mind, as shown in that Sutra Pitaka, and it is the same for an Arhat. The meaning of body manifestly producing is also called the production of body, because it depends on the body. It is the same for an Arhat. From that aspect, it is not called the production of body. Similarly, it is because of the meaning of mind manifestly producing, the mind manifestly produces other objects. If it is the same for an Arhat, what similar Dharma is there here? What is merit? What is non-merit? What is immovability, what is the connection? Merit, non-merit, and immovability are the productions of body, etc., relying on the Sutra Pitaka like the Vase, it has already been extensively shown that it is the production of merit manifestly produced by the condition of ignorance. That is important.
