If it is an antidote, then both of these are also unreal, not wisdom. What are these two? They are unreal and antidote. Why? Therefore, the unreal is said to be possessed of no birth. Like this, whatever has birth, that is unreal, not unreal. The antidote to desire, etc., is also the real of the path, not unreal. Unreal also has two types: non-existent before and non-existent after destruction. Among them, non-existent after destruction is manifestly established for those who have birth. Even if it has birth, it is also the antidote to birth, like the path of desire, etc. Non-existent before is also not having birth. In this way, it is unreasonable to consider ignorance as being associated with non-grasping and non-reality. Just like non-sentient beings and non-form. Whatever is different from wisdom is also ignorance. Why? Because it would also extend to the eyes, etc., because the eyes, ears, nose, etc., are also different from wisdom. If it extends to the eyes, etc., what is the fault? There is the fault of falling into and retreating. If one temporarily considers the eyes, etc., to be the nature of ignorance, then it will fall into permanence, because Arhats also have it. However, if the nature of the eyes, etc., is ignorance, then the eyes, etc., are unobscured and unspecified, so even if ignorance is not abandoned, it will fall into retreat. Desire, etc., will also become the nature of the eyes, etc., because it is the nature of ignorance. If the eyes, etc., are also the nature of desire, etc., then the fault of permanence will remain as it is, because Arhats also have it. Like wisdom, other dharmas, like non-Brahmin and non-virgin, are not ignorance, because it does not exist. This means that there is no other dharma like wisdom. If it is also virtuous

Some wisdom exists, and if it is not knowledge, but becomes like knowledge, then it also does not exist. If a hundred people have wisdom, and it becomes like knowledge, then it also does not exist. However, if one thinks that non-afflicted wisdom is similar to Dharma, then, therefore, the nature of non-afflicted, unindicated wisdom will also become ignorance. If there is any fault in this, then it will be inferred that Arhats also have ignorance, because Arhats have wisdom. If here one only wants to say that afflictions are ignorance, then how can it become the nature of non-afflicted, unindicated wisdom? Knowledge is also not the master of afflictions. Degraded knowledge is also not ignorance, just like not being a wife and not being a son. Why? Because it is non-existent, so it is said. Degraded knowledge is non-existent, that is its meaning. If some knowledge exists and is degraded, then it can be established that it is ignorance. For example, just like saying that because there is a wife and she is degraded, therefore she is not a wife. If this is possible, then it also does not exist. However, if it is said that because it is a defiled virtue, it is degraded, then, because it is completely virtuous, how can it be appropriate to be the master of afflictions? Moreover, because Arhats also have it, it will become completely afflicted. The nature of afflicted wisdom will also become ignorance, this is because of merely establishing wisdom as knowledge. If there is any fault in this? This means, if this is the case, what is the fault? Therefore, it will be said that afflicted views are ignorance. The Extensive Commentary on the First Chapter and the Chapter on Distinctions of Dependent Arising, Volume Three. If there is any fault in this? This means, what will it become? Therefore, the subtle differences of individual ignorance and the subtle differences of views will not be spoken of. Therefore, if wisdom that is different from this and corresponds to afflictions becomes ignorance, then it is said. If there is any fault in this?

Therefore, if it is said that there is no unmixed ignorance, then if it is shown that refuting wisdom is ignorance, since it is refuting, how can it not be an affliction? There are two aspects to that: having the characteristic of a view, and being similar to afflictions other than that. That is called being a view and being similar to other afflictions such as desire. Among these, the characteristic of a view is the subtle aspect of a view. Being similar to afflictions other than that means the subtle aspect of ignorance, or which afflictions does mixed ignorance accompany? Because it does not accompany any afflictions, it is not ignorance, because there is no characteristic of ignorance. Furthermore, there is this other fault: non-virtuous views, such as wrong views, etc., are also not similar to the root of non-virtue, delusion. A view is also wisdom, and delusion is also similar to afflictions other than that, because it is said wisdom and ignorance. It is also not possible for two entities of wisdom to be similar, because the equality of entities is certain. Small wisdom is also ignorance, like the absence of salt, etc. Why? Therefore, in order to manifest the eighth, etc., which are contrary to the path, the wisdom of entering the stream, that is, the wisdom of incompleteness without outflows, also becomes ignorance, so it is said. If that is the case, what is the fault? Like ordinary beings, one would become afflicted, because there is ignorance, and there would also be the possibility of rebirth for the noble ones. If that is the case, rebirth caused by ignorance does not exist, because ignorance is the antidote to afflictions. However, the virtuous actions with outflows of ordinary beings are also not due to small wisdom, so that is not wisdom. Because that is entirely affliction, etc. Whatever lacks wisdom is also not ignorance, like a place without monks and a monastery without water, because the cause of not generating wisdom, everything such as the eyes in the continuum of ordinary beings becomes ignorance, if that is the case, then completely
