The so-called "death" and "end of life" are in order. To die untimely is to approach death; to die on time is to end life, meaning the end of life. Why are sorrows, etc., mentioned in the teachings? Broadly speaking, sorrows, etc., are mentioned in the teachings because of birth, which leads to old age and death, as well as sorrow, lamentation, suffering, displeasure, and confusion. In the "Differentiation," it says "not differentiated," meaning that it is not from the beginning of sorrow, etc., that sorrow, etc., are spoken of. Therefore, they consider old age and death to be branches of existence. If the branches of existence are differentiated, old age and death are actually branches of existence, while sorrow, etc., are not. Therefore, sorrow, etc., are not differentiated and are not considered branches of existence. If asked, what is the basis for this? Therefore, it is said extensively, "Like this, what are the dharmas of dependent origination?" Like this, what are the dharmas of dependent origination? Belonging to them, up to old age and death, is what is said in other sutras, while sorrow, etc., are not. Why? Because dependent origination is spoken of. When examining the opposite of the law, it is also said extensively, if asked, what is there without sorrow, etc.? The answer is: it is said that if there is nothing, sorrow, etc., will not arise. If so, it should also be considered a branch of existence, just like ignorance, etc., it must be said that they are dharmas of dependent origination. And it must also be said that if there is nothing, sorrow, etc., will not arise. Then, don't you admit those? It means, why don't you admit that those sorrows, etc., are branches of existence? The answer is: because their order is uncertain and they are not absolute. For those, the order is uncertain, it is said extensively, because the state is certain, so here it is said to be a branch of existence.

It is considered so, but it is not an uncertain situation. If it appears without being eaten by a ghost, then just like because of ignorance, etc., it will also become a part of existence. Because it is the characteristic of conditioned phenomena, it is said to be aging and death. How is it? Therefore, appearance is birth. Destruction is death. Abiding change itself is aging, so it is said. If it is said that because it is a moment, conditioned phenomena do not have abiding change, therefore abiding is called showing permanence, the characteristic of permanence abiding, the difference before that is change itself, so it is said. This sutra shows that completeness has the joy of complete decay, that is to say, in this sutra of dependent origination, whatever it is, it is naked and white hair, so vast. If abiding change is aging, why is it shown between birth and destruction? How is it? Because of birth, it is called aging and death. Why is it not shown at the end? The sutra also shows abiding change at the end, monks, the birth of conditioned phenomena also appears, destruction and abiding change also appear, so it appears. This itself is the order. How is it? First birth, then aging, then death, so it is said. Why is the characteristic of conditioned phenomena not like that? That is to say, in this sutra of dependent origination, what is the characteristic of conditioned phenomena, the abiding change is shown at the end. The difference between birth and destruction itself, so vast appearance, saying difference is to show permanence, to show that the permanence of birth and destruction is abiding change. In the sutra of the characteristic of conditioned phenomena, the order is not like that. Also, the two appear vastly with previously non-existence, the two characteristics of conditioned phenomena are to show the impermanence of previously non-existence and non-existence after destruction. Birth is the impermanence of previously non-existence. Destruction is non-existence after destruction.

The second is momentary impermanence. Third, one that abides and transforms into something different shows the impermanence of the transformation of things. Thus, having first shown the impermanence of the nature of non-existence of things, thirdly, the impermanence of the nature of the transformation of things comes later, therefore, the order is like that. The cause of erroneous babbling, which is recollection, is sorrow. Here, erroneous babbling should be understood as irrelevant speech. Erroneous babbling is also caused by sorrow, because it is speech spoken after distinguishing and examining, not without distinguishing and examining. Therefore, it is shown that the cause of erroneous babbling, which is recollection, is sorrow. Encountering the unpleasant, the body experiences the unpleasant suffering, which is suffering. Saying unpleasant here is to distinguish it from happiness, and also because it is of the body. What arises from the mind is displeasure, which is connected to the section of experiencing displeasure. Separating from the pleasant, beating the chest, etc., is extensively explained. Sorrow, etc., is because the separation from the pleasant is prior, which is what it shows, not because the encounter with the unpleasant is prior. Thus, in other sutras, it is extensively explained that suffering, etc., is because the separation from the pleasant is prior, which is what it shows, not because the encounter with the unpleasant is prior. Thus, in other sutras, it is extensively explained that suffering, etc., is because the separation from the pleasant is prior, as it is said, and how the nature of sorrow is first shown by categories, and after that, in other sutras, whatever sorrow is distinguished by the pleasant of the category of the pleasant, as well as wailing, as well as suffering, as well as displeasure, as well as disturbance, will arise, what is said is reasonable. In the second category, also, what is distinguished by encountering the unpleasant is suffering, etc., as it appears, is in accordance.
