It is said to be 'becoming' because it causes it to arise. In other Sutras, such as in the 'Life of Kungawo', it is extensively explained that the karma that causes 'becoming' to manifest is the very nature of 'becoming'. This Sutra also indicates that the cause of future birth is denoted by the term 'becoming'. The Abhidharma also extensively explains 'What is desire-becoming?', which also illustrates that the karma of 'becoming' itself is the cause of future birth that is fully connected with form and formlessness. 'Tending towards future manifestation' means that it has already tended towards manifestation. 'What karma is fully connected with form, as before?' What does this mean? It refers to the karma that tends towards future manifestation due to the cause of being fully connected with form, and the resultant ripening of that karma. 'Fully connected with formlessness, as before?' What does this mean? It refers to the cause of being fully connected with formlessness, which is extensively explained here. 'That is not the cause of ripening' means that it is not the cause of the ripening of karma. However, 'that is becoming' because that karma causes ripening to arise. Thus, then 'formations, etc.' are extensively explained. If all formations are the nature of karma, and 'becoming' is also the nature of karma, then what is the difference between formations and 'becoming'? 'Karma has two states' is extensively explained. The state of self-nature refers to the state of self-nature. The state of habituation refers to the state that enables the fruit arising from it to ripen. Is the state of self-nature itself not the 'becoming' of karma? Is the state of habituation not? How can the state of habituation of karma be spoken of? Therefore, karma has two states: the state of self-nature.
