If explained, due to ignorance, the consciousness completely pervaded by actions, from this, name and form, etc., in sequence, in the future, there will also be existence, it is said. Moreover, due to existence, in order to produce the differentiated fruit of grasping, it is not said that it arises from what was previously transformed. Without these, it would be a fallacy that even an Arhat would again achieve existence, because due to ignorance, there is consciousness completely pervaded by actions. If ignorance is also not shown to be the cause of achieving existence again, then because it is abandoned, it will not arise. The origination of action, that is what was previously universally produced. However, if only five branches are explained, then due to existence, the karma universally aroused by grasping will produce existence again, it is said. Moreover, it is not said that due to ignorance, the name and form, etc., abandoned by the consciousness completely pervaded by actions arise in sequence. Without that, for seeing the truth, it would be like not seeing the truth, and there would be the fallacy of newly casting existence again. If karma is exhausted, where does existence come from again, and what is its own nature, and what is completely perfect, and what is the enjoyer, will not be known. The origination of existence is also not shown. Therefore, without explaining the twelve links of dependent origination, the explanation of existence again is not complete. The cause of production is like karma, because it has power over casting the various different physical things of name and form, etc. The cause of accomplishment is like craving, because it has power over connecting the existence again that is cast into one's own realm. Thus, it is shown by seven and five branches. Therefore, it is better to explain the twelve links of dependent origination in the scriptures. In this way, isn't it contradictory to the treatises? As it is said in the Entering into Wisdom, how many past lives does one person have in this life? The answer is two: ignorance and action. How many future lives?

Then he said: How many are there? Answer: Two, namely birth and old age and death. Question again: How many are currently arising? Answer: Eight, from consciousness to craving. If so, what is the difference between ignorance as the condition for action and grasping as the condition for existence? Answer: Whatever actions were done and accumulated in previous lives, and the ripening of whatever actions, in this life one can obtain craving, and whatever actions, at the time of birth, can separately experience ripening; that action is conditioned by one affliction, the Blessed One said to be ignorance, this is called ignorance as the condition for action. What actions perform and accumulate this life, and the ripening of what actions in the future will connect existence, and what actions, at the time of birth, will separately experience ripening; that action is conditioned by all afflictions, the Blessed One said to be grasping, this is called grasping as the condition for existence. Thus, it shows that those three divisions are different. If so, it contradicts the treatise. How, as previously stated, should one rely on the Sutra Pitaka? Contradicting the treatise is limited; if it contradicts the Sutra, it is not permissible. In establishing these three divisions, there is much to be said, namely, explaining the birth with causes in sequence, and what is the necessity of explaining the birth in sequence from special causes? From past actions, how does the consciousness that connects continuity arise here? The treatise only allows it to be of the nature of affliction. How can it be the condition for action? What is the difference between the two states of consciousness and name and form? In the order of cessation, if the cessation of ignorance, etc., is permanent cessation, then because it admits that the cause is permanently destroyed, the effect is permanently destroyed, then it will harm the momentary non-abiding, because the cause of momentary non-abiding and the effect arise without interruption. Only when the cause is permanently destroyed does the effect arise.

If so, how can the result be completely destroyed when the cause is completely destroyed? When the previous birth is completely destroyed, the subsequent birth, which is caused by it, does not remain, and one may also fall into the thought that it is not a birth. However, if "cessation" means abandonment, then, since ignorance, craving, and grasping are abandoned simultaneously, and even if these are abandoned, others will be considered abandoned, it is unreasonable to show cessation in stages. "Abandonment" means the interruption of the attainment of those with afflictions. In addition, there is also the interruption of the attainment of afflictions that are aimed at it. If someone abandons desire and attachment to the eye, then, precisely because of abandoning desire and attachment, you have abandoned the eye, as stated in the Sutra. However, if "cessation" means unborn, then how can it be permissible for the limbs included in the past and present births to be born? In that case, there will be the fault of impermanent cessation, analytical cessation, and non-analytical cessation. Because it is explained with different names. However, if one again understands the order of cessation in this way: in that very birth, since ignorance is not born, actions do not arise. Then, in the second birth, consciousness is also not born, and so on, elaborating until existence, since it is not born, the birth of the third birth is not born, and there is old age and death there, then, explaining in this way with the order of the third birth not being born either becomes meaningless or becomes too extreme. When is the cessation that is contrary to the rule shown, that is, if there is no birth, there is no old age and death, if one relies on such a statement, then, at that time, if one thinks about the future third
