This shows that it is not so. In the initial distinction, monks, for the four characteristics of birth itself, it should be understood that there are six detailed classifications of death: complete death, incomplete death, the self-nature of death, the distinction of incomplete death, the distinction of complete death, untimely death, and timely death. Monks, among these, the self-nature of death is to be understood as the complete separation of consciousness from the body and its destruction, and the disappearance of the colored faculties. It is said that these are explanations of the meaning of the ten categories of death. If suffering and so on are mentioned in the teachings, why are they not distinguished in the distinctions? Because aging and death are considered to be branches of existence itself. For example, what are the dharmas of dependent origination? It is said in other sutras that it is from ignorance to aging and death. But suffering and so on are not. If we examine the scriptures from the opposite perspective, it is said that if something is missing, aging and death will not occur, but it will not be said that suffering and so on will not occur. Then, are these not acknowledged? Because the order is uncertain and it is not absolute. For these, the order is not fixed; it can be before or after aging. Suffering and so on are also not necessarily present, because it can be observed that many wealthy and happy people die. Aging and death are bound to occur, because they are the characteristics of conditioned phenomena. Occurrence is birth. Destruction is death. Existence changing into something else is aging. Existence means showing permanence. The difference between its before and after is the change into something else. This sutra shows that for those who are completely perfect, there is aging of complete decay. If existence changing into something else is aging, why is it shown in the middle? Because this itself is the order. Why are the characteristics of conditioned phenomena not like that? Because it is shown that the difference between birth and destruction itself is existence changing into something else. Both

It shows the impermanence of not having existed before and not existing after destruction. One is the impermanence of things changing, so what is the order from that? Then, why are sorrow and so on shown in the teachings? Because it shows that if there is birth, those faults will arise, showing most of the faults, and to cause aversion. Why are those called sorrow and so on? When separated from a beloved thing, the cause of talking nonsense, the discriminating thought is sorrow. That very talking nonsense is lamentation. When encountering an unlovable thing, the discomfort felt by the body is suffering. What arises from the mind is unpleasantness. The fatigue caused by effort in searching and guarding is trouble. When separated from a beloved thing, the pain of the body caused by beating the chest and so on is suffering. When nonsense is stopped, the intense pain that arises in the mind in between is unpleasantness. After separating from that, in an unclear state, feeling unpleasant about the moon for a few days is a kind of trouble. If that is done, in other sutras, sorrow and lamentation of the kind of suffering, as well as suffering, unpleasantness, and trouble, will arise, what is said is reasonable. If the cause of birth is old age and death, then will one become old or die as soon as one is born? Here it is said that only the first moment of connection is birth. Just as one becomes slender and so on due to weakness and other causes. It is not immediately after, so an example has been given before. Then, it is through those ways. The aggregate of suffering is the continuation of suffering. Great, is having no beginning. This, is birth, old age, sickness, death, etc., or actions, etc. Only, is being free from self and what belongs to self. Will arise, is birth. As it is said, from the arising of this and that contact, to the arising of this and that feeling. In the noble truths

Because it has been explained that all suffering arises from the cause of suffering, it is said, "It arises from this or from this." Regarding "aging and death arise from the condition of birth," here, regarding cause and effect, whether definite or indefinite, there are faults. If only birth is the cause of aging and death, then it would follow that aging and dying very quickly would be impossible due to fatigue from the road, illness, sorrow, not abandoning old things, and what is done by others. However, if only aging and death are the cause of birth, then it would follow that everything else specifically determined by birth, from afflictions and purified dharmas, would not universally arise, and happiness, intermediate feelings, and sorrow, etc., would also not exist. However, if both are definite, then it is those two faults themselves. However, if it is indefinite, then the explanation becomes meaningless, if one says so. But it is not meaningless, because it is to explain the main cause. The main cause is birth, because without birth there is no aging and death, and it also exists even without fatigue from the road, etc. This is called the separate explanation of dependent origination. What I said, "This is to fully show the separate explanation of its branches," I said these for that purpose, that is, for those individually and for those, through the power of those, I said those, that is its meaning. For those, the previous understanding of meaning and words is very complete, which shows that this is the statement itself. In the explanation of dependent origination, the separate explanation of aging and death is complete. Some say that because ignorance and so on are explained here, it should be understood that only ignorance and so on are the branches, but it is not so, because there, form, feeling, perception, formation, consciousness, and other mental factors also undoubtedly act together with it. The twelve states of the five aggregates are called the twelve branches. Why are only ignorance and so on explained in the sutras? Because they are the main ones in those states. If ignorance and so on are the main cause of formations and so on,
