It is said that desire is grasping. For those who are free from desire, grasping is different, not like what was said before. Why? Because they do not have the afflictions of view. Therefore, they do not manifest attachment by being manifestly attached to views, precepts, asceticism, or the assertion of self. They have the affliction of craving; wherever there is no freedom from desire, desire and attachment to that place are grasping. The Blessed One spoke of these four graspings from the perspective of a person who is complete with afflictions. Otherwise, it is said that there is no difference. What are the dharmas that have no grasping? The eye and form, etc., are extensively explained. What is grasping? Whatever desire and attachment there is to something, that is grasping here. Others say that the grasping of the assertion of self also exists in them, that is, the desire and attachment to the thought that the body is "me." Here it says, "Grasping is conditioned by craving." If the condition is definite, then craving itself is the condition for grasping, and not others. Therefore, other causes, immediately preceding conditions, and object-conditions will become grasping. Other sutras will also be completely abandoned, such as, "Due to ignorance, there is universal attachment, universal hatred, and universal delusion." Similarly, any slight sin, any unwholesome dharma that arises in various ways, all of these arise from ignorance as the cause to ignorance as the condition. Similarly, any action that relies on contact, etc., will also be abandoned. If the condition is definite, then only grasping is the condition, and not others. Therefore, craving will not become the cause, immediately preceding condition, object-condition, and dominant condition of other dharmas. "Monks, the cause of karma is craving, the condition is craving, the source is craving," and other sutras will also be completely abandoned. If both are definite, then both of the faults mentioned above will occur. If it is indefinite, then

If the explanation becomes meaningless, therefore, there is no certainty. Even if there is no certainty, the explanation is not meaningless, because it is to show the main cause, and likewise for explanation. For example, because of craving for feeling, in order to make it consistent with or separate from the present, desire and so on are the cause of attachment. The different attachments each depend on ignorance and so on, and craving for feeling, but not on ignorance and so on. The certainty of attachment is very minor, so abandon the minor. In explaining dependent origination, the distinction of attachment is completed. The cause of attachment is "existence," so what is "existence"? There are three kinds of existence, namely desire existence, form existence, and formless existence. If we also combine words here, there will be faults as before. Therefore, how should the combination of words here be expressed? The existence that is combined with desire is desire existence. Similarly, the rest are also like honey water and brown sugar milk because the middle words are not obvious. So, what is "existence"? It is the five aggregates of attachment, which the Blessed One declared without beginning or end in other sutras. These should also be understood according to how they fit into the three realms. In that case, then "the cause of existence is birth," so what other birth is caused by existence? It is those three existences themselves. In other sutras, it is said to be seven existences, namely the existence of hell, the existence of animals, the existence of hungry ghosts, the existence of gods, the existence of humans, the craving of karma, and the existence of the intermediate state. How should these be suitable? Because where beings arise in what way, that is existence. In what way means that it should be known by what cause and what order. Therefore, it should be known that from that sutra, what is summarized by the existence of karma is the three existences. In other sutras, it is also said, Ananda, even in the future, existence will be realized, but here it is said in detail that this is existence. In the detailed classification, what is desire existence? What karma
