Possessing the pervasive attachment and bondage, as well as subtle increase and proximate defilements and pervasive entanglements, these are called the appropriation of saying 'I'. Among these, the appropriation associated with desire is called the appropriation of desire, just as with the form aggregate, the combination of words will be established, because the intermediate words are not manifest, like the power of ghee. 'Possessing' means the meaning of being extremely connected. The appropriation of views, ethics, and asceticism are the views, ethics, and asceticism themselves. If the appropriation of saying 'I' is not understood, then are form and formlessness themselves the saying of 'I'? Are the appropriations associated with them the appropriation of saying 'I'? Or are form and formlessness and the pervasive attachment, etc., those that are both the saying of 'I' and also appropriation? How are those called the saying of 'I'? Do you have to say that there is some other name different from this that is called the saying of 'I'? Connection is, the Blessed One himself said in other sutras, what is the connection of desire? Monks, the desires of ignorant children and ordinary people who do not possess learning are both arising and ceasing. After elaborating, from desires, between the intention of desire and the joy of desire, this will arise. Between excessive attachment to desires, this mind will ultimately abide, this is called the connection of desire. Just as the connection of desire, the connection of existence and the connection of views are also explained in the same way. Elaborating, the one who imputes 'I' to that, apart from the views and ignorance associated with desire, any pervasive attachment and bondage associated with desire that is different from that, as well as subtle increase and proximate defilements and pervasive entanglements, these are called the connection of desire. Form and formlessness and the views associated with them, apart from ignorance, any form and formlessness and pervasive attachment and bondage associated with them that are different from that, as well as subtle increase, etc., these are called the connection of existen

It is called conjunction. The five views are the conjunction of views. The conjunction of ignorance is the lack of understanding of the three realms. Therefore, there may also be fabrication with regard to grasping. How grasping is first shown, that is not fabrication either, but here, desire and attachment, this is grasping here, such a definition of grasping is also consistent with other sutras. The conjunction of desire and so on is also made very consistent with the grasping of desire and so on. This is also made very consistent with what comes from entering into wisdom. Why do other non-Buddhist practitioners and wanderers explain the abandonment and complete understanding of grasping at desire, grasping at views, grasping at morality and asceticism, but not explain grasping at the assertion of self? It is said that other non-Buddhist practitioners and wanderers have long been attached to the self, attached to sentient beings and goers, nurturers and persons. They are not separated from attachment to the self, and attachment to sentient beings, life, goers, nurturers and persons. Grammarians declare that the self of the self exists, and its abandonment and complete understanding should be explained. Those treatises are very consistent with the meaning that desire and attachment to the assertion of self are grasping at the assertion of self and attachment to the self, but not with form and formlessness and fully possessed universal conjunctions and so on. Why are the four types of grasping established? Starting from the side of householders and the side of renunciants. Householders are mostly grasping at desire. From the renunciants, outsiders, mostly different from that, for example, they renounce desires and go forth, in the future, in order to want to possess or be free from experiencing desires and non-desires, they go forth in order to exist or not to exist. After going forth, they also rely on the differences of meditation and realization.

Or constantly observing, or observing as annihilation. Those also depend on observing as existent in sequence, or depend on observing as non-existent. Morality and asceticism are also related to this. As the Blessed One said, whatever depends on the views of each world, all of those are two views, namely, observing as existent and observing as non-existent. Asserting self also depends on two, because in the future, one will fully understand self as existent or non-existent. Therefore, the view of self is included in the clinging to views, because all non-Buddhists cling to it. None of the other views are among all. Therefore, the Blessed One said that there are some ascetics or Brahmins who preach the abandonment and complete understanding of clinging to desires, clinging to views, and clinging to morality and asceticism, but there is no clinging to asserting self. Craving is shown as three, while clinging is four, so what is caused by what? Clinging to desires is caused by craving for desires, that is, for those who only want to have or not have happiness and suffering in this life, depending on the craving that acts in desires, that (clinging to desires) will arise. For those who want to have or not have the experience of desires and non-desires in the future, it is the very act of acting in desires, the craving for existence and non-existence, and so on. And also acting in the form realm and the formless realm. The causes of those are different. What craving causes the clinging to asserting self? Wherever there is craving in the feeling of whatever place,
