If the body of the five aggregates arises by relying on the temporary earth, water, fire, wind, space element, and the consciousness element of the intermediate state related to them, how would this contradict this sutra? However, this person contradicts what is said about the six elements, the six sense bases, and the eighteen mental activities, because there, the position of name and form, the position of the sense base of contact, and the person in the position of feeling are shown in order. Are those elements not present in the position of the sense base of contact or in the position of mental activity? Someone said that. Should the truth of the matter be examined in that way? Just as it enters from this sutra itself, the internal earth element and so on are vast, similarly, in the position of the sense base of contact, it is only pure awareness. In whatever position, it is not possible to have only the six elements without the element of the body and the element of form and so on, because there is no element of consciousness. If you say that, this is not the meaning of this sutra. Then, why are the three, such as the elements, mentioned? It is to show the place and the dwelling. The elements are the place of the sense base of contact, because it is through relying on it that one enters. That is also the place of mental activity. Examining the elements separately in the body is to show selflessness, like this, it is reasonable to see selflessness by equating the external earth element and so on with the internal earth element and so on, and to show that even though it is selfless, pervasive afflicted feelings arise, therefore the sense base of contact and mental activity are mentioned. Therefore, initially in the womb, the name and form of the five aggregates are formed. Then, is the gathering of name and form the cause of the six sense bases? Or, is form the cause of forms, and is mind only the cause of name? All six are a collection of both, because in situations such as fear, sorrow, joy, sickness, and old age, the body and mind follow each other.

Because it can be seen. Then, why are the causes of the six external sense bases not shown here? Because it is not something that exists as separate limbs. It exists even at the first moment of name and form, and name and form have already been shown to be causes. Also, sound is an uncertain situation, and the five are not included in the number of sentient beings by just one alone. The touch, etc., included in the dharma sense base, has already been shown to be a cause. If the six sense bases are caused by name and form, then why are some faculties incomplete? Because name and form have differences in ability, as previously explained. Here too, there is a fault in the certainty and uncertainty of the two, cause and effect. If only name and form are the cause of the six sense bases, then the cause of those who are born miraculously will not be consciousness. However, if only the sense bases are caused by name and form, then the form that abides in them, and the dharmas that correspond to the mind sense base, and the causes of the sound sense base, etc., will not be name and form. If both are certain, then the faults are those two. If it is uncertain, then the explanation will become meaningless. If you say so, here it is neither certain nor is it meaningless to explain the uncertain, because it is a fault spoken for the sake of the state of complete perfection of the order of birth. The separate limbs, such as the form that abides in it, are not transformed into separate limbs, because other things that did not exist before are impossible. Sound is also an uncertain situation. In the explanation of dependent origination, the differentiation of the six sense bases is complete. The explanation of the first chapter and differentiation of dependent origination, Volume 3. What is the touch called "touch arising from the six sense bases"? The six aggregates of touch, as explained in detail, in that place, the Blessed One, depending on the differences of those to be tamed, shows various distinctions from the door of different supports of touch, but it is not the essence itself.
